Rocki Evans - Lipstick Regrets
Artist: Rocki Evans
Producer: Lady and a Tramp
Album: Unreleased
Label: Free Integrated Media
Remember how, when Rocki Evans released his Booth-sponsored More Songs About Girls mixtape, the Big Apple crooner deliberately left Lipstick Regret, a record omitted from the final version of the project, on the back cover’s tracklist? Yeah, that didn’t make sense to me then, and it doesn’t make sense to me now. Regardless, today fans finally get to hear what was originally going to fill that empty space. Leaked over the weekend, this previously-unreleased cut finds Evans painting a moody portrait of post-breakup grief. Over Lady and a Tramp‘s dark piano chords and plodding percussion, the singer laments his inability to erase the the sight, sound, smell and taste of a former love from his memory. The end product, needless to say, is more bitter than it is sweet, but its elegiac appeal won’t be lost on R&B fans with a taste for soulfully unique grooves. While this joint, as mentioned above, was ultimately left off the project, listeners digging this cut are sure to find more to their liking on MSAG, still available right here for free streaming and download.

Rocki's sound might be much different now than it was when he originally recorded this record, but I am sure glad he sent it our way to finally get a proper feature (and not just remain a mysterious scratched line on a track listing). This song has a repeatability factor... press play and you'll know what I mean.

I like Rockie. He has a unique voice and his delivery on this song was just short of perfect. I'll have this one on repeat for sure.

My brain hears things that others don't at time, but it does something to that inner part of me that enjoys a good beat. I liked it right around the 10 second mark. But hey, it could also be the Ciroc talking, but I don't think so this time.

I like Rocki's voice. Its different and nice to listen to. This is a great record. I will be listening to this for a while. Very smooth verses. And the production from Lady and a Tramp is great. I cant wait to hear more from Rocki Evans.

This is boring despite the direction I think he wanted to take with this track, it didn't work.
