The U.S. Virgin Islands’ ambassadors to hip-hop, Rock City, have hit one of the mainland clubs and there is a specific lady they have their eyes on. While a few listeners might think they could finish this story, please remember that a trip to the VI isn’t a hop, skip and a jump away. With this in mind, the fellas let their lady know that they hope to “See U Around,” whenever their paths next happen to cross. With their unique vocal flair and proven R&B hit maker Darkchild providing a solid synth-piano touch, See U Around is an ideal choice for the grind-time portion of any club function.
SO REFRESHING to hear someone singing well WITHOUT the goddamned VOICEBOX bullshit! And the melody is also above the predictable standard. Darkchild does a good job as usual. This is one of the few songs out there where the vocals are actually good enough not to need an overproduction.
I've said it on here before and I will say it again...Rodney Jerkins is a BEAST on the beats and this beat is the Shiznit! Konvict music is about to freakin Blow! Really nice track from Rock City. They can really sing.
Attention DJBooth Members: Rock City will be joining me inside the DJBooth next week for an interview. If you'd like to ask them any questions, please leave them in your comments or send me an e-mail!!!
this is what I call sick. Darkchild always impresses me, my favourite producer by far, and Rock City sing real real well. Already like this track a lot and have only heard 40 seconds of it.
It's good. The guy singing has cool accent too. I haven't heard anything else by them but this sound like a good start. Hopefully the song isn't overlooked.
Ask them if they will jump on the voicebox bandwagon or do they trust their own voices (which are great)? (it's more a request, please don’t use it!!!)
Thanks for all the great questions! If you want something to wet your appetite until their LP drops, they have a mixtape for sale at their Myspace page (link at top). It's called Rock City Presents: "The Black Beatles."
ASK THEM what do we need to make Rock City? What’s the recipe? I’m not as creative as you Z, but what I’d like to know is how do they describe themselves?
No, WOW!!!, what’s the merit of the artist using that machine? Anyone can sing with that. It’s like thinking a football player is good because he uses drugs. Aren’t we suppose to appreciate the natural skills?!
