When they aren’t busy writing hit records for other artists (see the Pussycat Dolls’ new single, When I Grow Up) or solidifying the track list for their forthcoming Interscope debut, Wake The Neighbors, Konvict duo Rock City are hard at work producing new joints for their We Feature Ourself mixtape. Having previously used freestyle rapped and sung versions of hit songs by Kanye West, J. Holiday and Usher as mixtape tracks, the duo recently scooped up Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown’s collaboration, No Air, and have put an interesting and unsuspected political twist on the effort. Pleading for our troops to come home and announcing that our governing body should have impeached President Bush, R. City’s version of No Air is anything but hot air.
This is hot! I definitely loved the original because Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown are excellent artists (I don't know what song you were listening to "The Greatest", [referring to the original]). But this was a very different approach to the song. I've definitely been sleeping on Rock City. After this track, NO MORE. I'm going to be on the look out for more from them in the future,
michealhannah we finally agree on something lol, no more sleeping on Rock City there definitely on the lookout, very unique twist on this song, and the lyrics are some of the most powerful ive heard in a while. you know Konvict has somethin here.
Rock City are talented! I like their approach to remixes. They are gonna make some noise this summer. This is better than the Og, and I personally liked it! This is a banger
Please no, No Air by Chris and Jordin is one of my favourite songs out now...to me it's untouchable, why did Rock City have to do this? it's quite useless to me...they add nothing to the song, they make it worse in my opinion. It's decent, but only because the music and the beat are super!
ok listen. this doesnt make any since to me- I dont like Rock City + I dont like the song "No Air" but when you put them together, i like it? Odd. Anyway, this song gets 3.5 stars from me for putting two things i dont like 2gether and comin up with a banger.
Why are people acting like it says No Air Remix...Its a freestyle with the same beat, it doesn't have to do anything with the original, they took the beat and turned it into their own version...With that said, this song itself is tough. Rock city did their thing here
Listen to the lyrics, I beg of you all... this is the difference between the original (which plays to young kids) and this freestyle version (which plays to older listeners, who are supposed to know whats going on in this world).
