Now that their Put The F’n Album Out stage is behind them, Rock City are ready to get back to what they do best: crafting feel-good jams with plenty of Caribbean style. In addition to Akon/Swizzy collabo I’m Leavin’ (which premiered at this very site), the brothers are currently pitching this potential radio single, an unmastered version of which leaked last month. On the record, Da Spokesman and Don’t Talk Much team up with fellow Virgin Islander and Interscope labelmate Verse to ask their fans and the industry, “Can I Get On?” Complete with a laid-back instrumental by The Hipnotiks, this cut is the perfect soundtrack to a chilled-out night at the club. The only question that remains is, will it “get on” in the mainstream (unlike prior buzz singles) and (finally) win Wake The Neighbors an official release date?

This was nice. The singer on this (I think I heard somewhere that one sings and one raps, that correct?) sounded very good. I like his voice. I enjoyed this track. No hate here.

ehhh i get an akon vibe (no disrespect, but thats not a good thing cuz i am NOT an akon fan)
but overall this song is pretty corny. that verse at 2:08 was hot and its really saving me from calling this garbage. |

this song has that crossover sound...and like that1kid said it does have that akon vibe. this song is ok but i hear the radio playing this song a lot though.

that1kid13 - The Akon vibe is present, as it should be. They are signed to his label and have collaborated with him in the past.
This was a solid track all around. Liked the verses and the production kept it fresh. |

First off, I agree wit that1kid13 once again, because there is an obvious Akon vibe on this as well as most of Rock City's songs. I just want to say that it's a little annoying that these "projects" sound so similar to their bosses. (Loon-Diddy, Akon-Rock City, Consequence-Kanye). It makes sense, it's just too much of the same for me or to have any big success.
That doesn't take away from the track for me tho, I'm always feelin Rock City. I like their island vibe, and their vocals/flow is always on point. This is a catchy track worthy of some spins. |

I'm experiencing music that is not completely wack today. It's actually good...but it's just like very forgettable and borderline boring.
I rock with Rock City, but this isn't something I would listen to again...not even on the radio. |

When you know what R. City is capable of, this comes across as slightly disappointing. Can someone at Interscope let me do their A&R work? Please.
These guys have talent, so no matter what they are incapable of making a bad song. But with the right guidance, they can make nothing but great songs. This is not bad, but its not great either.

i heard this a few weeks back & on first listen i knew dis one will be goin str8 to my MP3 ... Really liked the chillout/islandic vibe of the production & the vocals were really smooth as well ...
Big-A said it the best - "They SICK with the melodies and harmonies" ... I like plenty of RC songs, because of the songwriting & catchy melodies & dis rite here is just the same ... I'd play this again & certainly turn it up if it came on the radio ... BANGER!!! |

Like that13kid said, there is definately an Akon vibe to this track, but it works. I like the Carribean influence and Rock City is solid as usual. Beat is cool. I'll go with 3.5, they can do better but its still a good song

I remember when Rock city came to my college on the BET college tour. I was blown away by their stage presence. They are so hype that it was crazy they didn't have an album yet. This song continues to make me believe they need and album out...4 stars.
