After plenty of buzz singles and creative freestyles, it looks like KonLive/Geffen/Interscope finally got the message—with the help of Booth-premiered lead single I’m Leavin’, Rock City‘s debut album, Wake the Neighbors, has received an official release date. With their label set to Put The F’n Album Out August 25th, the Virgin Islands brothers have just released the final chapter in their The Preview mixtape series. On the street album’s third track, Da Spokesman, Don’t Talk Much, and guest singer India take inspiration from Drake‘s indie hit Best I Ever Had.  Over Boi-1da‘s original beat, Spokesman describes a female fan obsessed with his music.  Why wouldn’t she be?  After all, Rock City’s the “Best I Ever Heard.”  Don’t shut this one off early—Spokesman ends the record with a very important message to fans in the Booth and beyond; if listeners take heed, the industry will be better for it!

The original by Drake was insane..this isnt that far behind. I like India on the chorus the way she matches her vocals with the melody. Rock City brings some hot lyrics and add a new spin to an already banging beat. Fresh!

Lyrically their flow is mad crazy & put a cool twist to this one ... Never heard of 'India' but she was tight on this ... I know that I'll be jockin this for at least until their long-awaited LP comes out cos it sounds like its gonna be SICK ...

Not quite as good as the one by Drake but Rock City held their own. India had some good vocals on here as well. Good mixtape cut.

Nothing touches the track original....BUT

This ish is super dope.

First of all MMCOOLMAN2000, it's called a freestyle/mixtape track. They flipped the concept about a woman and instead made it about how great they sound. They are keen on flipping concepts (see Lions, Tigers and Bears, etc)

Real good ish.
India is not Arie...but she snapped with it.

Favorite line: STAR SPANGLED BANNER....like Jennifer Hudson at the Superbowl...lol

Good ish.

I have a new appreciation for Rock City after seeing them in concert last week and meeting them. Dudes are crazy performers, they put on a hell of a show. This remix had mad creativity on it, switching up the Drizzy track and making it their own. Hotness right here.

lol bro even so, this is SUBPAR in every sense of the word, they copy Drake's flow on every single sentence, come on, i could care less what they flipped, they dont add shit to this song. No thank you.

Wanna know whats funny? 75% of the records that Rock City redoes as mixtape track freestyles... are BETTER than the original versions that existed. I am going to tip the scale here in Drake's direction, but I love how they changed things up with the theme and title. And yes, no matter what you say, it takes skill and creativity to do so.

@mmcoolman2000 - Why the hate?

Not sure what to say, Z's said it all. Rock City always has a new sound on everything they bring, so they don't get boring. Always have an interesting spin on things.

DAmn India sounds sweet on this track...i didnt like the sensored f*in instead of straight @*#$! in the hook...rock city as usual makes a great remix, puts their own twist on things...gotta respect these dudes...loved the original so you cant go wrong (or can you) with a remix...4 stars

I agree with Z being their remixes are better than the original (See Whatever You Like somewhere on this site). I prefer Drake's original but this is pretty good.

"how are they creative if they keep using other people's beats?" mmcoolman2000, are you for real?!?

:o That's one hell of a weird question... I mean, EVERYBODY does that (freestyle over anyone's beat)!

Have you ever heard of the "A Milli" craze?!? I mean, really, what do you mean by "using other people's beats?" It's not like they have to produce every beat they use on their album, so that's not even the issue.

You're free to hate the idea of freestyles and mixtapes in general (cuz people "steal" beats), but not Rock City, they have their own stuff, this is what they do as a part time while their label is playin with their album... and look what they came up with!

My only regret is that their album already lost the hype of 2 great singles, "Loosin it" & See U around", it's been so long!

PUT THE FVCKN ALBUM OUT! (August, yeah, yeah...)

@Augz: Welcome to the Booth fam!

They need another Best I ever remx, with Drake singing the chorus without a synthesizer, and a couple Lil Wayne versus...still rock city keeps this nice

I agree wit Z, most of their freestyles are better than the originals. Drake, however, put out a quality original that this could only get very close to, but not surpass. I normally like their freestyles better than their own tracks. I'm ready for the album tho.

I'd suggest y'all download the mixtape. Love the Be (Intro) cover, just because they jumped on it, and it's one of my favourite songs ever.

This is beautiful! I love this version, just slightly less than the original. Great job Rock City! They came to my school earlier in the year and I supremely enjoyed the vibe they put out.

I prefer this to Drake(he sounds too much like Weezy). The swine flu verse was funny, good lyrics overall too but I think the reason i prefer this to drake is 'cause of Don't talk much's singing. solid in my opinion.

I really like what they have done with this. It sounds great and India makes it smooth. The original is nice, but this can not b overlooked. It's a great redo with a twist. I think I'm feeling this 1 more than Best I Ever Had. India tips the scale for me.
