Following his platinum-selling sophomore album, The Evolution of Robin Thicke (which spawned the mega-hit, Lost Without U), singer Robin Thicke is looking to continue his musical takeover with the follow-up, Something Else. Picking up the jazziness where Evolution left off, Thicke brings his Magic to the table with trademark soft vocals and sharp production, which together make for a potentially electric live experience. Already being used in a European Samsung commercial, Magic couldn’t have been released at a better time; as the summer heats up, more and more people will be taking relaxing sunset drives while listening “Robin rock.” For more soulful, good-spirited R&B music, check out Something Else, set for worldwide release this September.
DAMN! This song is hot. Good to hear somethin a little more up-tempo from Robin that will for sure get maddd airplay this summer. This is like a mix of latin/jazz/and straight r&b. BANGIN summer anthem for sure!
Man. This beat is real nice on this! Definitely. I feel a Young Son Remix coming on. This is definitely a nice, chill summer hit from the grown and intelligent. Loving the vibe. I feel he should have equalized his vocals on the song sharper though. They would've hit and mixed a bit better. But this is a definite solid track!
The latest trend in R&B is calling for highly rhythmic tones that make listeners want to get up and D.A.N.C.E. Beyonce, Rihanna, Ne-Yo, and now Robin Thicke have caught the upbeat craze. I like the fact that even though this is different from Robin's typical style, it is still not totally foreign. Great singers know how to grow over time.
Robin thicke can do no wrong! Hey what is this @*#$! about google sign in? Every time I log on, it jumps to google sign-in. When I try to use my log in and password, it doesn't let me on. Get it together fellas. I like the upgrades on the page but damn. Anyway this song is fire! I'm a big fan of the mans work and I'm ready 4 the new album.
This is a DEFINITIVE SONG by Robin Thicke: it’ll grow his fan base and overcome any scepticism! Guy can SING (100% natural and his falsettos are one of the best: they don’t sound forced nor annoying), compose the melody (he makes’em timeless and catchy) and lyrics (you could sing this anywhere and don’t look dumb), play instruments, produce (the instruments were well chosen and effective)… damn!!! I LOVE this song, it MIXES A LOT OF DIFFERENT (good) VIBES and creates a unique sound! I especially praise the tempo in this case, cuz it shows me a new side of Thicke. Guess the evolution isn’t over!
A lot of people assume that RT is a studio-singer, but let me re-assure you that he is a GREAT live performer as well. What does that point mean? It means that this song was MEANT (as Burmy pointed out) to be done live. Great return single.
This is def a feel good track for the summer... Reminds me of R.Kelly when he does his feel good music... Feeling the track. This is album is sure to be just as good as the last.
This doesn't fit into what R&B has become over the past decade, so I'd say this isn't R&B... this has more of a pop sound to it. In fact, it sounds a lot like Justin Timberlake... and that ain't my type of music.
This Song is SICK! The beat is CRAZY hot by Pharell and his team! Very good work here! Robin Thicke's voice is very very nice as well! This is CLASSIC $hit! Sick TRACK!
Nice call TWINSNAKE89, I couldn’t figure out which song this resembled to, and that’s exactly “Touch the sky”! No wonder why this also made me think of Jay-Z for a REMIX, since he’s comfortable with Kanye-like productions. And why not throw in CRS (Pharrel’s already around) for a remix as well? That’d be SICK!
As someone pointed out earlier this would not fit an R&B category. It does sound like what Justin T would do. What caught my attention is the beginning which reminds me of a part in "Don't Stop The Body Rock" - Freestyle. Then it added the rest of the beat in and got a soulful feel to it. Besides that production was on key along with everything else
What's good everybody. I've been coming to DJBooth for a minute now, but just recently became a member. This song is most definitely one to roll the windows down to and just ride to. Banger.
defly has more of a pop feel than rnb, as has been mentiond, but still thicke lays it on thick, great musical outing. sorry couldn't resist the wordplay lol
hot track like the vibe in this song its so relaxing. good to hear something up tempo from thick. fire!!!!!http://www.djbooth.net/index/general/about-us
About Us!!!!!!!
Good tempo, great production.. I have to disagree Drezilla, Justin T has more a kidish high pitched voice.. I can mos def tell the difference between the to.. All in all a well rounded track.
Grown folks music!!! I can see my parents jammin' to this. LOL! Let's fact it, Robin Thicke is a brotha. He has too much soul. All of these balladeers doing this funky up-tempo tracks. This a good look for them.
twinsnake89 is so stupid it's crazy! First off it doesn't sound anything like "Touch The Sky" by Kanye! Second off you know that JustBlaze (the producer) sampled that song off "Move On Up" by Curtis Mayfield. Next time don't be so dumb! Great song! Robin Thicke brings sexy to the game again! (No homo)
This A Great Song And I Think He Is Betta Then Justin Just His Singin Sound's Incredible I Like This Song Alot And He Will Go Dow As The Best White Singer Ever
