Robin Thicke‘s last two singles, Give It 2 U and Take It Easy on Me, both found the singer departing from his R&B roots in favor of a more dancefloor-oriented sound—an approach which failed to earn him high marks from the DJBooth readership. While the title of newly-released album inclusion Go Stupid 4 U echoes that of the first-named joint, the record itself is more in line with Thicke’s previous hits than either of the aforementioned. An uncredited producer’s lightly funky guitar riffs, sizzling synth-bass and syncopated drums back the Star Trak/Interscope soul man as he serenades a woman whose beauty and allure tend to impair his higher cognitive functions. Feeling this smooth, catchy selection? You’ll find plenty more where Go Stupid came from on the Blurred Lines LP, slated to hit record stores and online retailers on Tuesday, July 30.
