Musicians and soul music aficionados alike can appreciate someone with a Magic touch—someone who can switch it up, adding something special over gentle acoustic rhythms, superfly saxophones and strings. Following Robin Thicke’s Evolution, producers, rappers and singers have anxiously been waiting to hear what this evolving magic is all about. Mary J. Blige, fresh off a tour with Jay-Z, is ready to test the waters on the official remix of the first single off of Something Else. Doing a vocal tango over Robin’s self-produced track (for which his lyrics have gone unchanged from the original), the Queen of Hip Hop Soul oozes confidence. Robin’s third studio LP, Something Else, will be released on September 30.
Was kind of getting tired of the original, so this is a good refreshing remix to keep me listening. Mary J fits on this track like a glove, and their vocals blend in smooth together. 3/5 for me
MJB is perfect on this remix. Mary has a very powerful voice and can often times overpower the person she is doing a duet with (GO BACK AND LISTEN TO ONE BY MARY AND BONO), but on this one she reigns it in and gives just the right amount vocally. She added her vocals to the musical style of the song, adding just enough. GREAT REMIX!
I almost forgot Magic. I like the sample on the production. I've heard it used quite a few times. But I will have to say, for some reason, I'm not feeling this remix like I was feeling the original. It really brought it down for me. Hmmm....I don't know why...but it does.
i didnt know robin thicke made beats too and idint know he was on star trak.. i'm learnin alot today! lol anyways the song is alright. doesnt do nothin for me. doesnt stand out other than the nice production. 2.5 stars
I loved the original version of Magic, and let's face it... Mary J. has never been added to a track that became worse after she laid down vocals! This was and still is a 'hit' record.
Don't like the original much... don't like this either. The beat is definitely Robin Thicke's style.. but i just dont think this track will do as well as that first single he came out with.. Lost without you.
I have to quote kaydiddy35! I wasn't crazy for the original and I don't like this very much, either. Mary sure adds something because her voice is excellent, but it's still not my type of song... I'm not a sucker for Thicke's style to be honest! This is ok
