Ro Ransom - Leap of Faith
Artist: Ro Ransom
Featuring: Casey Veggies
Producer: JayEx
Album: Ransomnia
Label: Unsigned
What drives young men and women to forgo surer prospects of financial security and try their luck in an industry as competititve as the music game? While there are some credulous individuals who can actually convince themselves that they’re too talented to possibly fail, anyone honest with him or herself knows that it’s a Leap of Faith. Previously heard lending his guest rhymes to TreaZon‘s Through the Flame, Ro Ransom expresses his firm belief that fate has big things in store for him on his first solo feature, a freshly-released standout off his latest street album. Making good use of reverb-drenched piano, ambient synths, vocal sampling and trippy stereo effects, JayEx creates a cinematic backdrop for verses expounding the 19-year-old rap buzzmaker’s philosophical approach to the hustle: “I took a loss on that four-finger ring / But the Giants won before so I guess it ain’t a thing.” Continuing his recent streak of dope guest features, unsigned Inglewood representative Casey Veggies showcases his swag in a deadpan middle 16. Time to weigh in, readers: is Ro Ransom destined to conquer the hip-hop game? Those leaning toward the affirmative can find plenty more where this brooding banger came from on Ransomnia, available for free download as of yesterday evening.
