Upon first listen of Rita Ora’s new Roc The Life you may feel that you’ve somehow been transported to the mid-80’s, but I assure you that you’re very much present in the year 2012. While the first few seconds of the Roc Nation songstress’ newest (potential) single may sound like it was pulled from the year 1984, it quickly adopts a more modern, rock heavy sound by the end of the song’s first minute. Modern-day Renaissance man The Dream pulls triple duty on Roc The Life lending his vocals to the song, serving as its co-writer, and spearheading the interesting fusion of mid-80’s pop meets modern rock beat. If you’re a believer in Roc The Life then circle August 27, the date when Ora’s self-titled debut album ORA is set for release.
