Rihanna - We Found Love
Artist: Rihanna
Featuring: Calvin Harris
Producer: Calvin Harris
Album: Talk That Talk
Label: Def Jam/IDJMG
I fully realize that this is one of the most mawkish statements ever typed by human fingers but, in a world plagued by war, hunger and natural disasters, it is, in a way, remarkable that two people can find happiness in one another’s arms. But don’t take it from me; take it from pop starlet Rihanna, who celebrates the ability of romance to blossom in the most unlikely environs on We Found Love, the lead single off her yet-untitled sixth LP. A pounding exercise in dancefloor-packing minimalism, this high-energy cut finds Scottish singer/songwriter/DJ/producer Calvin Harris layering syncopated synths over four-on-the-floor percussion as RiRi celebrates the fact that she and a special someone could come together, even in such a “hopeless place” (Granted, she doesn’t explain what makes it so hopeless—anywhere with “yellow diamonds in the light” can’t be that bad, can it?). It all builds up to one of the most colossal singalong choruses since, I don’t know, Fire Burning—I have a feeling I’m gonna be humming this one later today. So, does this club banger bode well for Rihanna’s next full-length, due out in November? Whatever your take, you can count on the Booth to keep you supplied with the latest news and tunes.

This is far from groundbreaking of new, but Rihanna commands your attention and that means another smash hit for the star.

Interesting....it reminds me of a few similar songs.
It has similar chord progressions as Coldplay's 'Every Tear Is A Waterfall'. It has a similar drum pattern as David Guetta's 'Little Bad Girl'. And it reminds me of Pitbull & Afrojacks 'Give Me Everything'. But this is actually quite a refreshing take on the typical dance/club single. Calvin Harris also brings quality when he is behind the boards! 3.5 stars |

So happy to see Calvin Harris finally getting some shine in America other than the dance clubs; he's massive on the other side of the pond.

Gotta give them some props for making a Club track with some decent songwriting, unlike Pitbull, Usher, CB and pretty mucheverybody else who's released a club track this year

Rihanna is the voice of a women's fashion show. Expect it and get use to it. She's the voice.

Obviously we've heard better from her, but this definitely isn't bad. Will get guaranteed club play. The chorus is just catchy enough to earn this a place on the charts. Calvin Harris keeps it fairly simple, but the production here is still very effective.

it's a hit for RiRi.
Of the latter of tracks she's been releasing at least this is raunchy or just weird. Hope the vid doesn't see her even more drastic (yes, I'm hating), she's not a hooker so she better keep her clothes on. |

Ripper of a track, obviosly not for hip hop fans but for the rest, you can't help but tap your feet at the least.
If Rihanna continues to change and evolve like she is, she could be the next Madonna. Big statement I know, but she's well on her way... Oh yeah, and Calvin Harris is THE MAN!! |
