When Eminem dropped Recovery this past June, the world shook. While the album’s first single, Not Afraid, did beyond well, it was his controversial collaboration with Rihanna, Love the Way You Lie, that had the rare capability of breaking every record, while speaking on a serious issue that affects millions. Em gave us a peek into the mind of a man so unstable that he confuses love with abuse, while RiRi’s hook gave us a small look into the mind of a woman willing to put up with it. With Love the Way You Lie (Pt. 2), she returns to really get into the psyche of a victim, dynamically signing lines like, “It’s sick that all these battles/are what keeps me satisfied.” Alex Da Kid does relatively little to change the beat other than distorting and lowering some of the instrumentation in order for the words to penetrate even more, while Em returns to deliver a gripping guest verse. This offering off Rihanna’s upcoming release Loud (out November 9) is sure to spark discussions on domestic violence, and that’s far more important than breaking any sales record.

Essentially the same song but with the feature roles reverses, right? So, I gave the original a 4, ditto here.
I have to admit... this song (the production, hook, melody, etc...) really has grown on me. |

On paper, a lot of these "Part 2" ideas may sound like not such a great thing to do. Sometimes people find it corny, or desperate that an artist tries to ride the buzz of an existing song they were initially featured on, by remaking it as a solo endeavor to help promote them.
In all of the cases where this has happened in the past year (With Alicia's "Empire State of Mind", Chrisette Michele's "Aston Martin Music" and now this), it's been INCREDIBLE. The execution of the actual idea turned out to work just fine. This raised the stock of the song in my opinion. I love how it comes in and builds up acoustically, and then fleshes out. Eminem did his thing lyrically and energy-wise, as always. The ONLY thing I would even have to say that would be quasi-negative about this is the fact that I was hoping Em would have delivered a calmer verse. It seemed like he was at first, but then reverted back. It's not like I don't like angry Eminem verses. Those are the best kind. But it wasn't until he did it again on this remake that I realized he did it on all 3 verses of the original, which was fine, but it would have been nice for a variation. But yeah, this is a go. I wouldn't mind hearing this version receive heavy radio rotation as well; even though some people might be tired of the song as a whole and this chorus. But hey, good is good... LOUD is sounding like it's going to be a great album... |

Rihanna did her thing on this as well as Em
in my opinion this had a better production than the first song. Lyrically this was a weaker song than the first, other than that this track is hot and is definitely gonna get alot of attention on the radio 4*z all around |

Like Dreams said the Part 2 thing did work here. This second part showcases Rihanna more and allows us to have a flipped balance between her and Eminem. Like the verse Em dropped too.

This. is. absolutely. brilliant.
I really think this'll receive massive radio-play as well. The production is better, and the crescendos into the chorus are absolutely chilling. |

A great sequel to the orginial version. I love the intro, how it builds up then finally the hook comes in. At first I didn't like the orginial but after hearing it to death on the radio, it grew on me. Em had a dope verse and Ri' did her thing, smart move to keep the same hook too. This is just as good if not better.

Usually part 2's pretty much sucks ( for the exception of Usher - confessions and Alicia Keys - Empire state of mind). but this song is pretty damn good! em kills his verse (as usual)

MAKING A PART 2 TO ANYTHING Can Be VERY RISKY... But They Stuck To The SCRIPT, Didn't OVER-DO IT and That's The BEST PART ABOUT IT.

This is sick right here. I like how the production is a bit more like a live band which gives it new life really. Rihanna sounds good on here. I liked the original, so I like this one too. Just like Z... I'll have to make this a BANGER. Good job by Em too. Nice track all around.

This song honestly didn't do it for me, I think the idea should have just been left to Eminem's album, the song was meant to be angry and em carried that out perfectly, when Rihanna was put into the main role I think the song didn't pack the same punch

I am not sure I like the part 2 as much as part 1. The vocals are good and its nice to hear her contribute more to the song but I guess I am just tired of the whole thing now. Maybe if I heard this song before part 1 I would like it more.

Well I like this version more than the former one coz the production is more sweet and has a good atmosphere! What's more Eminem's verses were rather boring to me so I'm happy he's less present on this one!

After the 1st part this just seems not to original and not creative. But if you like Rihanna's music, you will surely enjoy it.

I'm not really feeling this one...I would of hung round for Em's verse but I'm sorry to say RiRi's commercialism is just makin me sick lately.
Its worth a few spins but I'm not liking it grandly??? But that verse is a catchy hook so I see this being played a lot and it growing on me, or going the other way and being tired of this smashed up duo. |

This version is nice, however it lacks the same power as the original. Em is a force and anytime you eliminate that, even one as great as Rihanna becomes only good in comparison.
