Rihanna - Cold Case Love
Artist: Rihanna
Producer: Justin Timberlake and Rob Knox
Album: Rated R
Label: Def Jam/IDJMG
Based on her last two singles, Russian Roulette and Hard, it feels like Rihanna’s upcoming album Rated R will feature a remarkably different sound than we’re used to from the urban-pop starlet. We all know the hard times she’s been through recently, and those emotions have come out in her recent music. On potential (next) single Cold Case Love, she departs from that dark sound and gives us an emotional anthem. Produced by Justin Timberlake and Rob Knox, the track starts off with a soft organ and piano melody, then segues into Rihanna belting out the some if the track’s deep, somber lyrics: “We opened up a cold case love, and it got the best of us.” The track’s more of an epic ode to losing out on love than a radio hit, but something tells me Rihanna fans will love it all the same. The highly, highly anticipated Rated R is slated to drop November 23. Keep it locked for all the latest.

Wait till 3:44 kicks in and you'll understand my rating.
It was a bold move to hold that for so long and dare us to appreciate the song in it's purest, melody and vocals. |

i think it nice that both Rhianna and chris brown are both releasing albums so closely together kinda.. chris brown has had better songs so far and i think he have just as much sucsess as before. like the production by jt

The track definitely picks up at 3:44 but, in my opinion, if a song takes almost 4 minutes to become enjoyable than the song is "In Rotation" at best. I'm not looking forward to Rihanna's new offering. I think the album would have actually have sold more copies had it been released without a single. My expectations are slowly decreasing. I'm a huge fan of "Hard" though.

Anyone else hear that Phil Collins sample? Slow progression, huge drum pattern, that hi-hat and the loud snare drum to top it all off just screams "In The Air Tonight".
Overall, really just an average track. |

Is this a concept album? my god, this album is going to be amazing in my mind.
That piano in this track is just mind blowing. Her vocals aren't the best but I love everything else about this track. I really can't wait for this album. |

The production was really good. Liked the piano in the beginning and I really liked the percussion JT had goin on in the first half of the song. I do feel like they waited a bit too long to kick start it. But damn, once 3:44 hit, I really got into it. JT really did a great job all around on this production. Rihanna was good throughout the song. I'm looking forward to the album just because I want to see what else is in store for this new direction she is taking.

Overall, the tracks decent though nothing to get excited about.
It took way to long for this track to 'come to life' which is why i cant rate this higher then 3 stars |

As much as I wanted to hate on this because of what I feel Rihanna as a person is about, I can't. This whole thing was dope. I liked the production from the get-go. J.T & Rob Knox went in! I liked the slow progression. That was some illy ish. The engineering mix on this was nuts!
WHOA! When the drums dropped in! ABSOLUTELY NUTS! |

Rihanna has work to do.. I am not for men hitting women but his music right now. Just a little better but in any event, they should do a make up duet song. fans wanna see that b/c lets face it. they making songs for each other..! just my opinion..

This is without a doubt the most impressive song that I have heard from the new project. The production work is really top notch and RiRi sounds excellent over it. This is a great look moving forward...

very predictable track. the beat change 3/4 ins didn't really bring the song to any new dimension and the fade out was just unncessarily dragging on for no reason, quite predictable from jt. when the track finishes, i don't get rihanna conveying the song at the end. i feel rather cheated. that sense of detachement is blaringingly obvious for me. the album itself is once again a mixed bag for me. the best track has to be "fire bomb" a brilliant pop femme fatale - but i am beginning to imagine that its the song itself and the songwriting which is the standout rather than rihanna singing the song, she is quite pedestrian, i wonder who produced this - ryan tedder or william? this song could be huge if she sung with more conviction.

This is OK to me...If I was into these slow drawn-out songs, then I would probably like it more, but the beat is decent and Rihanna sounds good on here. This will be on the radio EVERYWHERE...to bad I will be changing the station everytime it comes on. Only the great MJ could make me listen to a track that sounds like this...

This album for sure will be Rihanna's best album, maybe the drama with Chris wasn't all bad since it's been majority of the motivation.
But with this song, I'm kinda on the fence about. I love how the music built its way up untill 3:44(which everyone else keeps on bring up on how that just made this song) but for me it just sounds lame. I swear JT sampled a Disney Movie(Lion King perhaps) and the song is over 5 min? Though it wasn't bad but not as great as alot of people are saying. |

The Y’s did their thing with that beat, the slow build up, with the organ playing in the back did it. Complimented her voice nicely and lyrics were compelling. Solid guitar solo at the end too! Easily one of the best track on the Album. 3.5
I listened to a preview of the album and I must say, I am not that impressed! Her fans aren’t giving it good reviews either! I think people will go out and support it, mostly due to sympathy though cause it is truly not that good! |

JT and Rob Nox was creative w some fresh + old beats Props to that and Rihanna sang this song well, almost naturally beautiful. She didnt sound like she was trying hard, but i sorta think that the beat went too far when it "got picked up"... guitar was way off, and the beatbox was typical JT wanna b a Timba..

This is by far my fave song on Rihanna's new album. I don't think it matters at all that the big production doesn't kick in till 3:44 - it just makes more of an impact. Can definitely tell from the get go that it has Justin written all over it, however. Two thumbs up. Shits all over 'Russian Roulette' which has a very week chorus considering the song's intensity.

i like this, its saad about whut she experienced so it was definitely no secret to me that she was going to express what happend with her and her former boyfriend on this album. Im Just hoping thee entire album isn't similar to this or else it will depress the hell out of everybody. Shxt is just too Rated R for some folks. ya kno?

I actually like this song a lot. I agree that it's better when it picks up, but i'm feelin the song throughout. It's the kind of song that let's me just sit and relax and think. |
