Rick Ross - Live Fast Die Young
Artist: Rick Ross
Featuring: Kanye West , Tony Williams
Producer: Kanye West
Album: Teflon Don
Label: Maybach Music/Def Jam
When you’re alive and well at 34-years-old, does it really make sense to drop a record titled Live Fast Die Young? No, not really. Of course, when you’re the Bawse, you don’t have to make sense – and that goes double when you’ve got a track as dope as this one up your sleeve. On the latest single off Teflon Don, Rick Ross trades his usual, swanky sound for something a little more audacious; while Kanye West‘s brassy beat has a luxurious vibe befitting the Maybach general, a chopped, repeated vocal sample injects a little left-of-center catchiness into the mix. On the lyrical tip, both the headliner and Yeezy largely stick to the time-tested topics of cash, women, and shopping, but quotable lines nonetheless abound – my favorite of the moment being the bizarre but hilarious couplet with which Ross ends his opening verse: “She came to party like it’s 1999 / If she died on my d*ck, she would live through my rhymes.” For more from the Florida heavyweight, grab a copy of his fourth studio album Teflon Don when it hits store shelves and online retailers July 20.

Wack. DJ Z you have bad taste in music seriously. Everytime you guys make a rating or prediction about a song it's always a different story in my city or on the billboard.
1) Rick ross is so f*ckkin wack 2) Kanye west could do much better 3) Live fast die young wtf do you expect me to be banging this song chanting live fast die young? Again kanye can do much better and i really hope he does not feature rick ross on any other tracks off his upcoming album. It's summer save all that sad shit for the winter and come out with some summer bangers. |

1. Once again, Z's comments are SPOT-ON. (I was moving in my seat to this!)
2. Did Niko203 and M.A.C.B. get bit by the hater bug? (I'm not one to use that word a lot, but it fits with their comments) |

Looking at the other comments, the song is both overhyped and taken too harsh. I might have to listen to it a few more times but right now hearing it, the beat is all over the place and is just too crazy.
I still don't get how Rick is so respected by his peers (I guess that shows what type of people they are) but he was decent. I'm glad to see Kanye again, but he still hasn't came with anything lyrically dope like I was hoping for (maybe my expecations are too high). Oh yeah, wack hook too. Maybe it'll grow on me. |

Kanye is great on here, both on the beat and on his verse!I think kanye is on the way to picking up right where he left off in the rap game. Rick Ross was better than usual, but not great. The hook could use some work though. Overall, it's a banger in my book.
Rick Ross' new album is going to be interesting to listen to, especially since he has guests like Cee-Lo, Erykah Badu, and Raphael Saadiq. I'm looking forward to hearing more of it. |

Amazing!
Kanye did one hell of a job here! Production is top notch, the music is beautifully crafted and catchy! This is so heavily Kanye-influenced that the only way one can tell it's a Rick Ross song is that he gets 2 verses and does actually sound hungrier than usual. Nonetheless Kanye was the most comfortable on the beat and was outstanding. The chorus is just feel-good and genuine. Rap listeners are definitely not music lovers. Rating this garbage and hating is plain ignorant. |

Haterbug... Did you make that up yourself? No seriously do you think this song is a classic? You probably don't say haterbug a lot but you guys sure do use "classic" loosely. It's not just DJ Z it's a few of you guys. I can name a few songs that you guys rated poor and they became smash hits. Don't try to play me i know what i'm talking about.

My first thought is that this reminds me of College Dropout Kanye! Rick Ross usually gets owned on his songs by the guest artists, but I think he managed to hold his own for once. The beat goes hard as expected with Ye on the boards. This is a definitely banger status!

As for the other comments i listen to much more than rap. I rated this garbage not because im ignorant but because i know kanye can do so much better. Also rick ross just isn't the same anymore. I wish he could make more songs like The Boss and Here I Am but after trilla everything was just garbage. Now can everyone please get off me?

the only time "ross" and "fast" will be in the same sentence lol...and is it just me, but i feel like ross has matured in his raps and flows, moving away from his "hard" beginnings, the song with john legend comes to mind ("magnificent" i think it was called). not that there's anything wrong with it, but it just sounds like adult music lol no hate baby

I've never seen the booth so split on a song. It isn't just veteran raters against the newer guys; everyone's split.
Rick Ross has stepped up recently. Hi Super Fly remix verse was very respectable to hip-hop purists. His verses here were also on point. They contain some of that Rick Rossian repetitive lines, but thats just him. Kanye was an absolute disappointment. He had that College Dropout tone to his verse, but honestly, he just spit recycled metaphors on top of cliches. No creativity. His last line about dying was the only one that caught my ear. Definitely a throwaway verse by 'Ye. The production was a good fit for these artists. I feel like Ricky is on his way up. I agree, he's been featured way too much, and been unimpressive on those features, but Super Fly, and Live Fast Die Young were lyrically on point. I hope he can keep it up. This is what happens when a track dosnt deliver on all the hype that surrounded it. The production is decent though not as hot as Ross had been claiming. Kanye's verse was good, though ive heard better from the lad. Rick Ross himself was probably the tracks highlight. Neither of his verses were classics, but they were still pretty solid.
The hook gets annoying pretty quickly after multiple listens 3.5 |

Don't know whats wrong with Niko and MACB, I agree with Z. I don't see why Rick Ross is respected so much, but he can be dope sometimes. I don't think his album has one song with just him. Maybe 1. These 2 need to make more music together. They always sound good together. They compliment eachother and make hot music. 4.5

@Niko203-
Dude, if you want people to get off your back, stop replying to everyone's posts with an argument. People have their own opinions. You can't hit on other people to make everyone see your way. If you're calling the Maybach Boss wack, then make a three albums that topped the Billboard 200 consecutively. Now back to the track: Rick Ross: His standard money-crazy flows are generic and predictable, but it's just him. Nothing too special, but yeah, the last two lines of the opening verse is hilarious. Kanye: Somewhat annoying, as is the hook. But again, that's just him at his swagger-laced braggadocio at its best. I can only vaguely accept him auto-tune singing, but him at his rapping game is always the best. The verse was pretty memorable. The beat is crack! 'Nuff said. The sample does get kinda monochromatic after a few listens. Overall, a slightly above average track for me. |

Huge 'Ye fan, and was a little let down by his verse (although I did appreciate the ressurection of his humor and sound effects). Not so much a Ricky fan but his verses actually proved to be more than tolerable, nice work. Kanye's beat is just ridiculous though.
In addition to xuUP17's comparison: The Sheldon Williams joke(which had me rollin'>Z's response to niko203(also had me rollin')>Production>Ross Gotta love the Booth. |

@mmcoolman2000 - "the only time "ross" and "fast" will be in the same sentence lol..."
^LMFAO^ From the gurgling analog beats with delicate and refined horn-line to the sliced n diced disjointed sample, only Kanye West can pull off a mess of a tune… in a good catchy way and the hook lines are big and sticky as an oil spill. Be warned. Ricky Rozay!! definitely stepped up to the challenge, seems like he too saves his best bars for his own tracks. Good strategy, but you just can't top WHATEVER Kanye West spits. Period. |

So basically what you're telling me is that Kanye has a new track featuring Rick Ross. The beat? Kanye. The hook? Kanye. The best verse? Kanye. Ross does his thing, and I'd be surprised if Teflon Don doesn't smash, but this feels like a Kanye track to me.
@Guest - When did this comment section become about accurately predicting charts performance. Some of my favorite music never touched the charts, and some of my least favorite music sat in the top ten for months. I was under the impression that we were all (including DJ Z) giving our opinions on how we feel personally feel about the track. |

I like the song but hate the chorus. And Nathan I disagree that this sounds like it's Kanye featuring Rawse. Ross carries his own throughout the whole song but the beginning of Kanye's verse is dope. And Kanye on the hook is supplemented and horrible. I hope this isn't the best the album has to offer.

Pretty average cut. I have never thought of Rick Ross as one of the better rappers. This song doesn't do anything for me. Kanye was alright. Rick Ross is terrible unless he features someone. Without Kanye this is trash.

Now listening to the song again, it has grown on me more. I love the beat and I'm glad where Kanye is taking his production (Power and Drake's Show Me A Good Time). Even the hook is dope to me now, I still don't like Kanye's verse and Rick is decent but I'm able to overlook that for the most part. Banger.
