Though the title of Rick Ross’ fifth studio album suggests a veiled threat, the twin singles he unleashed upon the Internet yesterday were more amorously focused: You’re the Boss saw Young Money heavyweight Nicki Minaj pledging her devotion to the MMG general, and on its currently-featured counterpart Rozay expresses his affection in turn. Of course, dedicating a song to one female would inevitably upset the rest of his sizable harem—not wanting to leave anyone out, the rapper addresses I Love My B*itches to all his women, “from East Coast to West Coast.Just Blaze works his magic on the production tip, pushing the Chipmunk-soul concept to an infectiously high-pitched apotheosis (anyone recognize the sample?) as the Teflon Don drops verses just as lustfully high-rolling as you’d expect. He even finds time for a little soul-searching: “Am I really just a narcissist / ‘cause I wake up to a bowl of lobster bisque?” (Sorry to break it to you Rick, but you are a narcissist—not sure what your soup-drinking habits have to do with it, though.) So, are you loving B*tches? Then keep it locked for all the latest leading up to Rick Ross’ yet-unscheduled new album, God Forgives, I Don’t.

Rick Ross is his usual self... and Just Blaze is his usual self (my oh my, did he smash this beat!). Can I get a vote on who will eventually be brought on for a remix? Can I vote for Jay? Please say Jay, Rozay.

Ross ruins any chance this beat had at being listenable. He might be one of my least favorite emcees ever.

i think the beat is too soulful for Rick Ross. And Rozzays verses weren't very catchy on this if you compare it to something like B.M.F.

Just Blaze killed the production, but Ross just sounds dull on this and it just didn't vibe for me. It's decent, but it could have been so much better, especially with that beat.

The production on this song is certainly a step in another direction from Ross' previous ventures, but it's not a new or innovative direction — just a new sound FOR Rick Ross. Beyond that, though, lyrically it's more of the same. I appreciate the fact that he tried to branch out, but this song is ultimately a misfire. The blame can not be laid at the feet of Just Blaze though.

Just Blaze backs Ross up with his usual (always welcomed) high-pitched soul sample-focussed music. This time around however, there's something missing. Ross needs to connect better with the backing he's being provided. As it stands it sounds like he's rapping in a vacuum, with mostly no relation to what's going on around him. The rhymes he presents meanders toward redundancy and are in sharp contrast to the soulful production and it comes across as kind of sloppy, with the instrumental and rapping not quite coalescing into a convincing pattern.

It's not as though song is a horrible listen, but it's just not up to the level I've come to expect from Rozay's lead singles. I wonder if this will end up being a harbinger of his sound for the next album.
