With Deeper Than Rap‘s April 21st release date fast approaching, it goes without saying that Rick Ross is one busy man. Since the Boss was tied up with a video shoot in sunny Colombia this week, he wasn’t able step inside the Booth for an exclusive interview—next week, however, may be a possibility, so keep your fingers crossed. In the meantime, fans are sure to enjoy All I Really Want, the newly-released follow-up to lead single Magnificent. The-Dream‘s soulful rendition of the song’s title, backed by a single sitar note, at the very start may lead listeners to expect a fairly by-the-book ladies’ jam, but that first impression will only last, oh, about two seconds—then Tricky Stewart‘s twitchy, propulsive rhythm section kicks in and, after a false start, Ross spits one of the best opening couplets I’ve heard in a while: “She graduated from the School of Arts/ Now she’s swimming in a pool of sharks.” Dream’s glittering harmonies on the hook are just icing on, well, a delicious pile of icing that’s sure to leave fans even hungrier for the main course.

Ricky is on his job! His last couple of tracks have been all bangers! And his flow is getting so much better... The-Dream is always a plus (To me)

I don't really think the production fits well wit Ricky's flow, which is a first from the tracks Ive heard from Deeper Than Rap. The production and Dream's vocals are cool in their own right, but mixed wit Ross' flow it doesnt work all that well for me. It could get some radio play, but I'll stick 2 some of the other tracks on this sure-to-be great album.

I am not really feeling the production on this joint at all. This may be the wackest Rick Ross I have heard in a while. It just sounds really commercial which may be good for him, but not really good for my ears. Dream sings decent here, but the chorus is kinda weak. Ross has a good flow on here, but its just not the right beat for him to rap on. He sounds like he is going too fast with it. It's just OK to me...

I gave "Deeper than Rap" a couple of listens and I must say that I am VERY impressed. Some of the album's collaborations are better than others, and this is one of them. I wouldn't be surprised if "All I Really Want" ends up being a follow-up single down the road.

The production is average but doesnt have the hit factor that other Tricky Stewart songs have. Rick Ross brings a nice laid back flow as usual. The-Dream is solid and the hook is pretty good..in rotation

Jeezus, how many singles with this album get? Mafia Music, Magnificent, Usual Suspects, Mayback Music II, Rich Off Cocaine and now this? So far, I'm impressed but Ross' lyrics still leave me wanting a bit more. The production on this one is strong and The-Dream makes a solid cameo but I can't help but wonder what this song would've been like with a more talented lead artist. Anyways, I gave Deeper Than Rap a listen and, to me at least, I'd call it a banger. The production and guest appearances were all fire but Ross, lets face it, just isn't that talented. He gets outshowed for the good majority of the album by his numerous guest appearances.

I dont see how people say 50's winning the beef when Ross coninues to put out music like this... When its all said and done its not about puuting out videos with baby mommas, its about putting out superior music...and for some time now Ricky's been crushing 'em!

DJ Z i couldnt agree with you more on your comment. Rick Ross is just lucky he has fire production from Justice League & The Runners. By the way, this song is wack, and so is Face, Murder Miami and Boss Lady from the album.

This is my joint right here! I am a huge Dream fan btw. The beat is reminiscent to an old song....but I can't place my finger on it....Anyways, this is a spring anthem, let the airplay begin!
PS: The video is supposed to be inspired by Snoop Dogg's "Beautiful", another reason to have high expectations for this track! |

What a great album... I mean, song! ;)
I see what you mean Juanito, but it was a good challenge for Ross to rap over this "propulsive rhythm", adapting his own flow to the beat (that could be more catchy although it's classy with the sitar and such...). The "all a nigga really want is you" is the only part of the hook that does that catchy trick that was to expect from Dream and...Tricky (pun intended! :p). "Lay Back" is better and should be the single for this kind of appeal. I hope that with all the leaks/"singles", this does like "Tha Carter III" that got leaked "on purpose" but didn't stop the sales. |

@ DJ J: Not all of Officer Ross' tracks on DJBooth are official singles.
Lyrically (as of late): Officer Ross > Curly Jackson. Internet drama: Curly >>>>> Ross. |

Deeper Then Rap may be a good overall album like some have alluded to, though I still havnt heard a track from it that has a real chance of being successful on radio, this track is no exception.
Whats with all these R&B producers making tracks for rappers lately? |

I kinda like this. It's a 80's type track. Not Ross or Dream's best work, but it does had a Miami skiboat on the sunset type feel to it. His album is @onna be hater proof thou@h, most mf @onna have to just silence themselves about Rather they hate or just fif ryders!

A few things...
* Only "Magnificent" and "All I Really Want" are singles. The rest of the Rick Ross featured records at the Booth have been unreleased or album inclusions. * @J.P. Get Money - How can you agree with me when I had not left a comment at the time you did? Curious. * Once you listen to this full album, you will understand why this was selected as a single. |

Despite having had huge success with few songs, I think the Tricky Stewart/The-Dream combo is overrated as hell and I don't get it why they need to be on every damn album. Doesn't make sense to me. This is absoluteley nothing special, in fact The-Dream can get annoying real fast. So also on this song. The production is below, many other producers can do MUCH better

SO EXCITED FOR THIS ALBUM
it deserves some caps I've been feeling the boss lately. Everytime I heard Rick Ross it was big money boss rap same thing all day everyday but lately, I've been LOVING it, he's got amazing collabs and his flow is getting way more versatile However, this isnt my fave I've heard from the upcoming album it still delivers. April 21st come on baby! |

surprised this track isn't getting much love. I love the production. The Dream doesn't add much, but it stays in my head. Ross doesnt' really spit anything spectacular, but he's not really known as a lyricist. At first I thought this track was aiiight, but it stays in my head. Give it a couple more spins, and i'm sure it'll be in everyone's head as well.

@Juanito, I'm a WI native 2 so i usually bump a track up a star for referencing WI in any way, lol. The beat is bangin and i like Ross's flow. I'm not likin Dream's chorus tho. I think i would like this better if it was unedited. In rotation

after 2 listenings I do finally like it!! i know it gon bang in err club, but honestly, it just ain't a REAL banger..
but dream kinda disappointed me with the hook. :-( his chorrus on fabolous' _throw it in da bag_ is simply amazing, and he had recently a lotta great guest-appearences, that's wha i'm used to better 'refrains' from him!! ross?! he is like always: fresh n smooth, pure quality |

Anyone giving low ratings to this track needs to listen to it a few more times or bump it in the ride. This track is bangs and is a sure radio hit with the Dream hook. The instrumentals on this are crazy and I'm definetly feeling the sitar, but just could just be my Indian background coming through. After listening to DTP I have to say Ross has stepped up his lyrical game, spitting enough sick lines to make Weezy fans turn. The whole album has an orchestra feel to it and the production team must be given credit....The only flaw I see in the album is that all Ross continues to rap about is sex, money, drugs and livin the life, which in some cases is great, and who doesn't want to ball out of control sometimes....but to really get to know a rapper you need some more retrospective or personal tracks in my opinion. I think he should have addressed the whole C.O. fiasco with a track.....speaking through music makes more people listen, stop rappin about the O's that you keep on flippin' or the girls you be pimpin, then the masses might forget what's written in those magazine clippin's.....Holla at cha bwoy!!!

Hey everyone. I just saw a recent interview Ross had (in which he takes shots at Eminem; can't wait to hear Slim's reply) and, flabbergasted by some of what I heard, decided to stop by with a bit of a rant. Am I the only one who thinks that rappers, the good majority, despite their knack for inventive wordplay, are seriously lacking in actual intelligence? Now, don't get me wrong, rap is my favorite genre, but why can't any of these rappers educate themselves a little bit? Do they honestly believe that just because they're rich as **** they're above rhetoric and grammar? Instead of buying rims why doesn't "The Boss" get himself an education? Every day I turn on MTV and see this nonsense and wonder what the purpose in making all this money is if you have the same IQ as the rims on your car. This genre once stood for something; getting out of the ghetto and moving on to bigger and better things. What many of these artists don't realize, however, is that bigger and better things don't come without knowledge. This beef stuff is just pure, immature nonsense and any educated human being would be able to see that. Making cartoons? Calling people "fags"? C'mon. This is middle school garbage. The only rappers I see out there trying to actually better themselves as human beings are Jay-Z (who has stepped into politics on several occasions), Kanye West, Nas, Ludacris (in some respects) and a few others. I hope no one thinks I'm talking about Jeezy either, just because he made a song called "My President Is Black" doesn't make him a politician; "My president is black, my lambo's blue" is about as childish as you can get. I'm sorry for getting into this but it's genuinely upsetting to see people fail so miserably as human beings. Anyone out there agree with me? Please don't let me be alone on this. haha.

Had a chance to hear the album already, and its amazing. However, to me, this was one of the weakest tracks on the album (which is saying something). Just don't really enjoy Ricky talking bout 3somes and cum lol and the other singers hes got on some other songs on the new album make The Dream sound weak.

Liking this track but I'm a sucka for anything The-Dream has done. Good beat, i'm guessing Dream's humming/moaning whatever is why a lot of people aren't feeling it. It's Dream, it's either love/hate. Haven't given the album a full listen but checked out the iTunes previews.... "Valley of Death" is INSANE! Love that track.

"Phantom"- i agree that most rappers dont educate themselves. i disagree that Kanye is tryin to better himself as a human being tho.i would also like to say that i dont really care if a lot of rappers dont try to better themselves as human beings cuz most humans dont anyway. i just look at them as entertainers, but maybe if i knew them personally it would be different.as for the song, it is really growin on me and i am likin it more and more. at first i thought it sounded kinda corny, but its really smooth and i find myself humming along to it now. it still sounds kinda weird w/Ross and Dream doin a song together tho.
