Life would be pretty good if I was a millionaire; I’d have a nice house, no student loan debt, and for once I’ll be able to buy a hat and kicks that actually match. Unfortunately for me, I’m not much of a lottery player, nor am I next in line to be a contestant on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? Rick Ross, and, by extension, his woman, are in an entirely different boat, as the Maybach Music boss explains on this new single selection. Lay Back Pt. 2, a reworked version of the Deeper Than Rap cut of the same name, retains The Runners’ boardwork and guest feature Robin Thicke’s hook, but features all-new verses from the Miami hitmaker. With the larger-than-life production of previous selections Maybach Music Pt. 2 and Magnificent plus an added dash of energy, this track is sure to appeal to all who have enjoyed Ross’ recent singles, as well as helping move yet more copies of his recently-released third album.

Robin Thicke does his thing, but overall the song is too pop-ish especially for ross and his slower delivery. but i could listen to it so i'll throw u a 3

whoa that did not sound like Robin Thicke lol. i thought it was usher or someone else.
Ross does good when he tries. 2.5 stars. i wont rate up though. ima lil iffy on this. |

kinda boring, the chrous really isn't that speacial and Ross sounds tired. I'm still waiting for Maybach Music 2 to get a video done.

This track is solid all around but nothing really stands out. Robin Thicke's hook sounded pretty good, the production was good but I've heard better from these producers. Ross was decent. Can go in rotation.

The hook is alright, but like that1kid13 said, that didn't sound like robin thicke at all! I like Ross' lyrics on here, but the production could have been a bit better. I like Ross' perevious singles much better than this, but it's still in rotation for me.

Member "KG43" mentioned that this song is "too pop-ish." You couldn't be more spot on... which is EXACTLY why Ross and his team chose this reworked version as his new single. Radio will eat it up.
Not a fan of the new verses, the original ones were better, but the real story here is Robin Thicke, who in my opinion, kills hook work 10x better than full songs of his own.

I find that the melody of this song is so cheerful and positive...I'm not crazy for the verses, they are kinda boring, but I love the hook!

I liked the hook & the production, though I dont think they really suited Ross's style.
This track would be a hit if someone with some 'swagger' had been the main artist (Im thinking along the lines of Loso, Luda or Kanye) |
