On a track off his sophomore album, Trilla, Rick Ross teamed up with Hova to introduce listeners to a bangin’ new genre called Maybach Music. Judging by the four-star average that cut earned when it hit the Booth back in March of ‘08, the newly-released Pt. 2 couldn’t be an easier sell—essentially, it’s like part one, only moreso: more high-rolling lyricism, more epic, orchestral production by the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, and, of course, more big-name collaborators. After a sweeping hook by Autotune maestro T-Pain, Martin Louis Vuitton, Jr. steps up the plate to stunt about his cars, his sex appeal, and his notoriously tight clothing. A pumped-up second verse from the 305 Boss himself, followed by a metaphor-laced closing contribution by Lil Wayne complete this epic musical sequel (and potential single). Deeper Than Rap hits stores on the 21st, and fans should stay tuned for a possible exclusive interview with Ross next week.

The wait was well worth it for this one. Simply classic hip hop from the start- Ross actually killed this! Pain delivered perfectly on the chorus and you throw Yeezy and Wayne on the front and back of the track and it’s a wrap! THIS was supposed to be the Swagger Like Us that didn’t deliver in my opinion for the line up of artists it had. This will be Ross’s biggest record to date. CLASSIC music right here! Let’s go!!

T-Pain definitely impressed me..this has to be the best hook by him ever. Kanye sounds a little low on energy but I cant deny his lyrics on this. Lil' Wayne does his thing and Rick Ross flow is hot! The production on this is insane and original this is definitely a great anthem! Dope hook, lyrics are hot overall this song has the whole package! Just wondering if the Busta Rhymes "Number One" song will be put on djbooth or is it just because its not a single yet?

Yea, I definitely feel like Ross found his niche wit this type of track. His raspy vocals and southern flow just work best on these tracks. The hook from T-Pain is pretty epic, and Kanye was cool even though he didnt bring his greatest ish. Lil' Wayne is a perfect addition to the track, just flows perfectly wit the vibe. Its perfect how they add those breaks in the production for him. Again, not his best, but hot nonetheless. Yea, Keep tha Maybach Music comin!

So I got the new issue of XXL in the mail yesterday with Officer Ross on the cover. I'm not hesitant to say that I hate Ricky's bogus lifestyle and distasteful attitude, but despite it all he still continues to make dope music. Who would've known? Officer Ross can ride with the boy boys.

With an epic prod & line-up like this, one is bound to receive 5* + Teddy blessed the hook (NEVER disappoints) one of his best hooks ever... not gonna get better than Jay’s original verse, but Kanye is on firee rite now ... & Ross goin strong wit his laid-back street edge ... & Weezy did his thing, as DJ Blaze once said - "his lyrics are always better than an average MC" ...
but i kinda sense a lot of members/ppl will feel disappointed cos its not quite up to par with what each individual artist is capable of ... hey, but not me ... CLASSIC. |

Man this song is amazing! It has an all star lineup and an amazing beat by J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League. I am really feeling this and i think this will be a big hit for this spring. I give this 5 stars it is definitely a classic!

I'm expecting big things from Deeper Than Rap in the next few weeks but, in all honesty, Ross is possibly the least important factor in this (and pretty much any) of his songs. Production and guest features are the pinnacle of every track release off any of his tracks; overshadowing Ross in the vast majority of his music. As someone who lives in the 305 and is constantly exposed to Ross' music, I find his lyrics rather mediocre and his subject matter to be very single-minded so, while DTR may end up being a great album, I can't see myself ever becoming a Ross fan. Anyways, the track is a classic, no doubt, but I'm pretty sure the substitution of Ross for any other artist would've gotten the same output.

The way the music starts... and ends! All the beautiful brass, bassline, strings, percussion, and anything that produces any chord. Justice league will be remembered in hip hop history for this production. It’s unbelievably good. Listen with headphones… amazing! And that’s how you make sure your enemy (50) won’t have anything hotter than you for the next 4 years… XD I love how each rapper brings a different style, they all flow so properly and deliver smart lyrics! |

Not going to lie, this could be the best track from Ross I have ever heard. The line-up is great, and they actually deliver for once. All verses are great, and so is the production. The only problem is that this is the 5th single off his album. I would have loved to hear this when the album actually came out instead of two weeks earlier but I guess that's how the music industry is these days. Good job Ross, sounds like it's going to be a great album so far.

To "queencali" (and anyone else who thinks that any member of the site or our crew "got a little payoff to rate this song."), the DJBooth is all about one thing: music. If you want beef, go to WSHH. If you want gossip, check out a few blogs. Nobody here cares what Ross did on the side or what 50 Cent said about him in a beef record. This particular song is VERY STRONG and has the supporting cast and production muscle to match.
Everyone is entitled to rate this record as they please (1's and 5's have been given), but do not expect that you can make invalid and hurtful accusations.

^I disagree. Swagger Like Us is very mediocre compared to this.
Production here is AMAZING! It ALONE pulls in the stars. Then you get some dope verses. Great hook from the ringleader, Kanye is a given, I just love Rick Ross on here (favourite part, actually), and Lil Wayne difficults his typical sorta verse, but that's not exactly a bad thing so hey. I've been playing QuESt's version for such a long time, waiting for the official CDQ. |

This song is an absolute BANGER CLASSIC!!!! The hook is insane, the production by Justice League is perfect. Kanye yes. Rick Ross yes. And Weezy, YES!!! Its a solid track, though I dunno how often ill play it. All these tracks with the 'biggest names in the game' always seem to flunk, especially swagger like us, which was the most overrated track of 08 here at DJ Booth.
I still think Deeper Then Rap is going to strugle. He isnt Nas or Jay-Z, so he cant get away with having no hit single, which creates the larger album sales |

Damn. Chorus is CRACK. The chorus alone makes the song a banger. That Justice League hook that rises and T-Pain's autotune is finally good here.
But I dunno, I don't really like the Eezzy's (Wayne and Kanye) especially Wayne. He can get away with lyrics that sound they're written by a 4 year old. REMIX THIS CRACK please. |

I wish Ricky would've gotten a verse from Jay for pt. 2, but you can't ask for much more with these features. I'm giving this a 4 and not a 5 because I still think the orignal is better, but this is close! Say what you want about Ricky, but most everything I've heard from Deeper than Rap has been SOLID!

The production on here is def fresh and smooth. I'm really feeling the vibe from this song. T-Pain gives an expected feature on here. It was def nice...i liked it. Kanye & Wayne were firre in my opinion. I love them both and this was just an overall hot collabo. Rick Ross is never someone that I really be feeling, but I always give him his props. @ Crotia - If the 'haters' didnt comment and rate, then this would be a perfect 5 rated song, which it isnt (though i dont think its garbage either). a 3 or a 4 star is what I thought most people would rate this.
And for the record, Swagger Like Us was very overrated, the beat sucked & T.I. was the only rapper that brought heat (thanks to auto-tune). Their was a reason it debuted high on billboard & then dropped without a trace. |

One of the best tracks to come out this year. The beat is epic and has obvious jazz influences, and the lyrics are just as clever and epic. The track screams classy, and if I drove a Maybach, I would rock this song all over the place. Would have rather heard someone different close this track, but still, classy beat, classy rhymes: 5 stars.

The problem with this song is that this song lacks CONTENT! The production is so timeless, what a waste of a hot beat. Kanye came the best. Lil Wayne highly overrated as usual. And Ross? Well, he should rap about something else than Maybach's and sunglasses. T-Pain with his computerized persona doesn't fit here. There's real hot soulful singers out there, they would have been a MUCH better choice.

Really though, I'm feelin this...someone above said that Swagga Like Us was better...have to disagree. The production on here is epic. Yes, epic. And no one flows bad on this, whereas Wayne's verse on S.L.U. was some crappy ish. I'm lovin this right here. OH DAMN just heard the end of the song. Love the jazzy stuff at the end. Very nice. And queencali, when i get my money for ratin this song, I'll go ahead and give it to you. I don't know where you were raised, but where I'm from, we listen to music because...we love music. For instance, I don't care how much you pay me, I will NOT give Right Round by Flo Rida a good rating. Why? Because I don't like the song. Same principle applies to this song, and every other song on the Booth. If it's good, like this song here, it's gonna get a good rating. So you can have any money I recieve for this rating. Maybe you can buy yourself a ticket to pleanet Earth, where people actually like music. |

LOVED the intro. Now that the whole 50 cent rick ross beef is over, my respect is back for him as well. T-Pain had a nice hook. Kanyes verse pretty good, i respect him as a rapper but for some reason i typically don't like him as much on features, only really like him on his own songs, loved his last line though. Rick Ross has mastered that legendary american gangster classic type sound, he does it again on his verse here. Great verse by the Boss. Wayne was pretty good. I rarely if ever give 5s, and to this I give a 4.5, round it up to a 5.
and I agree with Z, I love this site for the very fact it is so different than WSHH where all you hear is bashing, I get to read intelligent reviews on this website. |

Is this as good as the first one? No. Is this what Swagger Like Us should've been? Yes. The beat is fire, the verses were nice (Ye ripped it). Not a classic, but this will be the first track that will have scratches on my Ross cd.
