In honor of the forthcoming (and highly-anticipated) release of Rick Ross’ sophomore album, Trilla, DJBooth has hooked up with Cleveland mixtape master, Mick Boogie, for a remix to Ross’ current single, The Boss. Using a Lil’ Wayne acapella verse from his guest feature on Trina’s Don’t Trip, Mick Boogie has placed arguably two of the biggest artists on the urban music scene on the same song (that other guy, of course is T-Pain). Produced by Jonathan “JR” Rotem, The Boss is the second official single to be released off Trilla (Speedin’); the album will be available for purchase in stores and online March 11.

I was feeling the original track somewhat, but when you add Lil Wayne to it; it just makes it that much better. Rick Ross rips the intro on the track with high energy and gritty flow. Head bumper flow! Lil Wayne does his normal sick flow to the track and it is welcomed here. Banger $hit!

This is tastefully done. I can bump this anywhere. Not bad. Beat is nasty ... I said this beat is NASTY! T-pain brings FIRE to this track but Weezy BURNS this track.

DrGT: While you are entitled to your opinion, and that is what we like everyone to offer up, there is a much more tasteful way to deliver it. Please clean it up!

What does "Mick Boogie Remix" mean....its the exact same song with a verse from Wayne. I don't think Weezy's verse made the song any better than it already was. Kinda disappointed.

one dv: not to be rude, but if u gon make a criticizing statement, at least kno wat u talkin bout. lil wayne's verse in dis song is not from "fireman" but actaully from da song dey had together couple years ago called "don't trip". but im tryna figure out wat da hell remix means if u jus add a throwback verse from wayne...how bout sumbody define da wrod remix for me cuz im hella confused...

i must be missin somethin but i don't see whats so good bout Rick Ross. to me he benefits from good beats like 50, but no substance to his rhymes. they seem........ dumbed down

In my opinion, 50 has always Helped the beats the way he rides with the beats. At one point in 50's career; some top artist would come out with a hot song and we just couldn't wait to hear the 50-cent version! Rick Ross in my opinion, needs a beat that suits him for the track to be hot...Still a sick track here!

In response to Donjonjon I feel that Rick Ross has some of the most consistent lyrical flow and substance. He always kills it and raps hard, but in order for us the listeners to really like the song, he needs a good beat or his voice becomes a little boring to us, despite its sick lyrics and consistency. Lil waynes energy definitly added to this song, wasn't sure I'd like it at first, but I did. Very good, BANGGGER

yeah in response, i've heard lots of Ross songs w/sick beats: Speedin, this song, I'm So Hood, Hustlin... that's the problem I have w/Ross, to me he brings good songs down. Someone suggest a song I should cop that displays his lyrical skillz, cause I wanna give him a fair chance

In response again, I think the main appeal of Rick Ross is his delivery. He punches every line out so that it hits. I think a decent one to show some good lyrics is Pots and Pans ft. J Rock from Port of Miami. Another one I just happen to really like is Money in Bags from the DJ Obscene Presents Poe Boy Runs Miami mixtape.
