In honor of the forthcoming (and highly-anticipated) release of Rick Ross’ sophomore album, Trilla, DJBooth has hooked up with Cleveland mixtape master, Mick Boogie, for a remix to Ross’ current single, The Boss. Using a Lil’ Wayne acapella verse from his guest feature on Trina’s Don’t Trip, Mick Boogie has placed arguably two of the biggest artists on the urban music scene on the same song (that other guy, of course is T-Pain). Produced by Jonathan “JR” Rotem, The Boss is the second official single to be released off Trilla (Speedin’); the album will be available for purchase in stores and online March 11.
I was feeling the original track somewhat, but when you add Lil Wayne to it; it just makes it that much better. Rick Ross rips the intro on the track with high energy and gritty flow. Head bumper flow! Lil Wayne does his normal sick flow to the track and it is welcomed here. Banger $hit!
This is tastefully done. I can bump this anywhere. Not bad. Beat is nasty ... I said this beat is NASTY! T-pain brings FIRE to this track but Weezy BURNS this track.
DrGT: While you are entitled to your opinion, and that is what we like everyone to offer up, there is a much more tasteful way to deliver it. Please clean it up!
What does "Mick Boogie Remix" mean....its the exact same song with a verse from Wayne. I don't think Weezy's verse made the song any better than it already was. Kinda disappointed.
This song is hot regardless of lil wayne or not . mike boogie did his things with that lil wayne clip mixed in there deff a banger ....if it was a new lil wayne spit i would of gave it 5 stars
one dv: not to be rude, but if u gon make a criticizing statement, at least kno wat u talkin bout. lil wayne's verse in dis song is not from "fireman" but actaully from da song dey had together couple years ago called "don't trip". but im tryna figure out wat da hell remix means if u jus add a throwback verse from wayne...how bout sumbody define da wrod remix for me cuz im hella confused...
i must be missin somethin but i don't see whats so good bout Rick Ross. to me he benefits from good beats like 50, but no substance to his rhymes. they seem........ dumbed down
In my opinion, 50 has always Helped the beats the way he rides with the beats. At one point in 50's career; some top artist would come out with a hot song and we just couldn't wait to hear the 50-cent version! Rick Ross in my opinion, needs a beat that suits him for the track to be hot...Still a sick track here!
In response to Donjonjon I feel that Rick Ross has some of the most consistent lyrical flow and substance. He always kills it and raps hard, but in order for us the listeners to really like the song, he needs a good beat or his voice becomes a little boring to us, despite its sick lyrics and consistency. Lil waynes energy definitly added to this song, wasn't sure I'd like it at first, but I did. Very good, BANGGGER
Yeah!!!!! Dis cooll. But dat original junt is my theme song!!!! Dat shit shood play er time I walk in a building and out 2!!! Lol!!! Yeah But I give it 4 cuz lil Wayne verse iz old. And Im tired of his ass on erthing anyway!!!!!!
yeah in response, i've heard lots of Ross songs w/sick beats: Speedin, this song, I'm So Hood, Hustlin... that's the problem I have w/Ross, to me he brings good songs down. Someone suggest a song I should cop that displays his lyrical skillz, cause I wanna give him a fair chance
In response again, I think the main appeal of Rick Ross is his delivery. He punches every line out so that it hits. I think a decent one to show some good lyrics is Pots and Pans ft. J Rock from Port of Miami. Another one I just happen to really like is Money in Bags from the DJ Obscene Presents Poe Boy Runs Miami mixtape.
dj z: lol my abd i ant read ur review today...was n a rush n jus wanted sumthin to listen to at school but yea sum ppl still read.....u should kno i do cuz i like to leave comments on things dat r n da review r wat has been said on the posts.....
Well for me i cant STAND Rick Ross... i cant stand the way he sounds.. i think his voice if just way to deep or weird sounding to make ne music i want to listen to... thats just my opinion though.. and some soungs just play to much or annoy me real quick like ay bay bay.. and this song does it to me to.. so no i odnt wanna hear it again. doesnt even deserve a star really but ill give it one
Not much different from the OG and I liked the Og version so it still gets a 4 from me. Lil Wayne verse was aight on here but not needed on this track, track was already good.
thisbeen my sht and still is .. rick ross really is someone to look out for on the hip hop seen. i dont wanna say biggy or ne thin but arguably has some of the features in his lyrics . but i think last summer was weezy this summer will be his.
YO ITS TIGHT BUT THE RYHME WAYNE IS SPITTING IS FUCKING OLD......... ITS JUST A DJ MIXING IN ONE OF WAYNES OLD RYHMES WITH THIS BEAT........ BUT I LIKE IT (I GUESS)
woooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwww luvin dis shiiiitttt. rick ross u killin dis 1 homeboi...luv it...n weezy bby u dne it agen...luvin it..t-pain aint gt no cmnt buh dis joint iz smokin hotttttt...............
jus lyk a McD im luvin ittt....
This is a HIT in my eyes. It's hard as hell in every aspect. Ross is HusTLin right now...doin his thing. And I think throwin Weezy in there did add a lil umph even tho the beats all the same as the original. I been playin this song for a WHILE now, and don't see myself gettin sick of it anytime soon... BaNgEr!!!
RICK ROSS DID IT WITH THIS ONE ALL ON HIS OWN... WEEZY DIDNT EVEN SPIT ON THIS, THEY JUST PUT IN A VERSE FROM "DONT TRIP"... BUT IT WAS FIYA BEFORE THE REMIX CAME ALONG... THE BEAT ALONE IS JAMMIN... RICK ROSS ALWAYS BRINGS IT...
give ross respect and props man. He and Timbo produced a banger for Flo Rida in Low and some straight heat in the remixes. I mean Low got to number one everywhere
Fifty gone off the boil, Weezy is looking hot hopefully he can make his own heat to we shall see in may (Carter 3 coming soon ya digg) as hes just been jumping on remixes with his cash money bros. Ross has been running the beats but watch out for Timbo and Flwo rida collabs. Anyway Fifty needs either to catch up or take some time other his next release with snoop, weezy, TI and Game releasing albums.
