Rick Ross - Cigar Music (I Do It)
Artist: Rick Ross
Producer: B!nk
Album: Deeper Than Rap
Label: Maybach Music/Def Jam
Though Mafia Music and Magnificent have yet to climb the charts like the Boss’s past hits, Rick Ross has all the publicity he needs to do big numbers with his upcoming junior album, Deeper Than Rap. In his planning for the LP’s release, the Maybach Music general has set the stage for the final battle of his war on 50 Cent; both Deeper than Rap and Before I Self Destruct will drop on March 24th. On his latest street single, however, Ross is just chilling back, smoking a Cuban, and enjoying the nostalgic Cigar Music. Enhanced by the vocal stylings of a currently-uncredited hook singer and veteran beatsmith B!nk‘s production, Cigar Music (I Do It) fits right into Ross’ extensive résumé of epic-sounding hits. The battle lines are drawn for March 24; place your bets now as to who’s going to win.

these laid-back joints are really good, but he's gonna have to get something to bang in the club, like Hustlin or The Boss, if he wants to move up the charts.
50 will win just because he's far more popular. Not even a fair fight... |

Rick Ross got them slow, soulful joints that sound like classics already. 50 Cent is a nobody to me. 4 stars for this soulful, street joint.

I am not gonna rate on this, but I am no fan of either 50 or Ross, but 50 is straight killin this dude right now. Ross needs to step his game up if he wants any chance in this "war"

This is a great record for Ross. I admire him for titling a record and actually coming through with a product that matches. (For an example of the opposite, see Busta's "Hustlers Anthem", which is in no way shape or form an anthem).
As for the Ross vs. 50 battle... I don't care who wins. As long as people are buying new music from industry stars, its good for everyone. Plus, they are both signed to the same parent label (Universal), so a dual does more good than harm (see. 50 vs. Kanye). |

I definitely feel the vibe on this one... I love the production, though it sounds like it would be more at home on a Lupe/Common/Kanye album. The hook is Ok, nothin special and doesn't fit the mood of the rest of the song very well. On the other hand, Ross is straight surprisin me, what wit this and Magnifiscent. Normally I can't stand his flow, but it fits perfectly on those two songs. Exposed or not, this is smooth...

May I say something. If the correctional officer revelation didn't ruin this man's career, what makes 50 think a few funny utube vids, a few wack ass songs, and a night of tricking off this nigga's trifflin baby mama is gonna do it? Ross survives this bs, not because we hate 50, but because these cold ass tracks he keeps hitting us with, at the end of the day, its all about good music. We in recession homie, @*#$! your opinion, just make hot shit and we'll forget! What up Chris Brown.

I have a lil dilemma here with Rick Ross. I think the way hes handling the 50 cent thing and how he won't admit to being a correctional officer makes him deserve to be put in "place" by 50. But even if he is a phony, he makes great music. There's no doubt about it. This song sounds epic after the first 10 seconds and his voice with the beat creates a legendary sound. I'll be buying both their CDs in March for sure. Basically, I'm starting to not like "Rick Ross", but I still definitely respect him as an artist.

This is smooth and nice.
Rick Ross vs. 50... 50 Cent just makes the vids. Funny, yes, but only at first, then it just gets boring. Rick Ross did send one back (the Gay Unit workout). If you think about it, Rick Ross isn't getting beaten down by 50 Cent in a rap beef, but just these videos he's been making- if making threats and repeating the officer thing is beating Ross down. Rick Ross has made disses, but those have been ignored. Neither are winning, the beef is stupid and going NO WHERE. |

This is aite.
Im a huge Unit fan, and before peeps hate; I dont have a problem that and dont care that Ross was a CO or whatever, its the fact that he constantly denied that he was - "ohh i was movin birds over the atlantic" - i know all rappers sometimes lie but pssh i cant believe anythin anythin that comes out Ross' mouth anymore, its all bullshit. Oooh and wheres that new Lloyd Banks song to Rick Ross (Officer Down), Ross gets buried Banks. Bnaks is comin ot with a lot of tracks recently, but the Booth doesnt feature any of em. (No disrespect intended at all lol) p.s. - I loved Magnificent a lot, but this is so so.. |

@ Nad101 - those are just leaks or mixtape joints... no official singles.... Booth is always on time ....
It has that nice smooth feel to it.... just throw on and listen ... Rick's pretty nice here but still it aint dat bangin enuff to me ..... Beef :: A mutual agreement between the artists so that they can beef on each other & later on they split their sales money.... Me? Im on a neutral stance bout both artists.... |

BDF44 said it all!
There’s no beef that could deny this greatness musically speaking. So far, Ross’s singles have been a lot better than 50’s always club oriented joints. Who puts better lyrics and proper flows? Ross! 50 ain’t gon end nobody’s career anymore… Like someone said, this belongs in a league of Kanye, Lupe, Common… 50 has no place among the greats. |

I gotta ride with Ross on this one... this is that real laid back music. I mean the delivery is slick especially that last verse... He switched up his flow which makes it even better. I cosign BDF44

For anyone to ever put Lupe or Common in the same league as Ross is just stupid. Ross hasn't been around long enough and his lyrics are terrible, especially considering he lies in everything he has ever told his fans. Stop lyin Officer ricky...

Wow, sorry if I ofended you TheGreatest, but it's all Juanito's "fault". I mean, he was talking about the production and so was I, sayin Ross has props for raping over a beat like this and not seem completely out of place... not that he, as a rapper, is in the same league as the Chicago representatives. ;)
My bad for not makin that clear earlier. Hope I didn't influence your rating though... :p |

Well, let me make this clear with anybody saying Officer Ricky is better than 50. Ross is an officer, and it is proven that is so. Second, y'all better go to Thisis50.com and look at what 50 has put out there, insulting the fake rapper, Officer Ricky. Third, 50 Cent has more street cred than this fake because Ross is an officer, 50 was born and raised in the streets (just read his bio), and finally, Ross is not comparable to 50 because of how many albums they sold. How can Ross compare himself to a person who has sold 21 million copies of albums??????? And to wrap up my presentation, The Game has recently sided with 50 Cent on this beef, and go to MTV.com if y'all don't believe me.
p.s. I am not a hater, I'm just stating the facts. |

its a decent track from Ross i like his laid back mentality not trying to do too much but spit real music. This remind me of a lupe Fiasco type song the mello type beat and flow. Its a good song, but it is not as good as his two other songs "Mafia Music" and "Magnificent" which are prett good. It's straight.

This war is crazy, I like good music, it dont matter who makes it to me. What someone did in their past is just that their past, if a n***a change his life for the better then so be it, why ride on what someone use to be before they got in the music industry, most of the stuff you the artist talk about is not real anyway so why get wrapped up in this bs... As for the song its different, but good choice
