In 1988 Slick Rick released the hit single, Children’s Story, off his Def Jam debut, The Great Adventures of Slick Rick. Now 19 years later, minus an eye patch and plus a beard, a different Rick is re-telling the story. Although DJBooth cannot confirm or deny if Children’s Story (Uncle Ricky) will be included on Ross’ new album, Trilla (set for release on December 26th), the self-proclaimed ‘Boss’ exhibits plenty in common with his industry counterpart of the same first name. Replace the gold chains with some platinum and Rick Ross’ reworked story is as fresh as it is charming.
Rick Ross actually shows some growth on this record. His flow isn't repetitive like it usually is and it was surprising to hear the scratches on the chorus instead of a catchy hook. Slick Rick would be proud.
nice beat, nice flow! Rick Ross is gettin bigger and bigger.. (lol Not talkin about his weight) he doesnt even need to proclaim himself as a boss anymore, we already know that!
This is the weakest Rick Ross track I've heard in like a year. I think it might be the production that is lacking on this track. Rick still got it, but not on this one.
Ross spits fire on this track. Im tellin you its the beat. Jus a lame beat, for real. And you cant compare this to the original. Rick the ruler murdered that song. Never can be duplicated.
