Rich Kid Sound System - A Little Bit of Time
Artist: Rich Kid Sound System
Producer: Rich Kid Sound System
Album: Rich Kid Sound System EP
Label: Unsigned
Don’t let the title mislead you; even if you’re not lucky enough to possess a top-dollar stereo setup, you won’t regret spending A Little Bit of Time listening to the first Booth feature from up-and-coming live-band ensemble Rich Kid Sound System. This newly-released single finds vocalist/bassist Q, vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist Leo, and percussionist Danny cooking up a compulsively head-noddable pop-rock backdrop for some braggadocio-laced lyrical reflections on the value of hard work and perseverance, complete with the obligatory kiss-off to their doubters: “People that I had classes with, used to sit back and laugh at it / said I wasn’t really passionate, now look at us, chillin’ in the passion pit.” With engaging rhymes and an infectiously upbeat sound, these “college kids” seem poised to do big things – what do you think, Booth readers? Those who like what they’re hearing will be able to find plenty more where this came from on Rich Kid Sound System’s self-titled EP when it drops this September.

The urban/pop/rock hybrid has been done before, but the fact I cannot recall to many success stories says it all. Does that mean RKSS is headed down that road? Based on this new single I'd say absolutely not. The trio are engaging, have a extremely fresh sound, and should have not problem appealing to a variety of audiences.
Guys, you're batting 1000% in the Booth thus far. |

Hmmm...im undecided on this one, i don't hate it, but i don't really see myself ever listening to it. The production is pretty awesome, but that hook is just too corny for me. That being said, i'm sure radio will eat this up., so roto...

with its infectious hook, and solid production this group seems to catch my attention more then most. the live singalong breakdown, and clapping really sell it for me. the hook grows on you and i think by only the second listen i was already humming it while waiting in line.
keep it coming rkss! |

Like Bad Rabbits, Travie McCoy and a handful of others, we're starting to see the rise of groups who are legitimately able to blend hip-hop, rock and just about everything else (sit the f down Schwayze, I'm not talking to you).
This one's got a distinctly 80s sound, and I have to admit it works. I have to say the second verse sounds very Kid Cudi-ish, but other than that I've got no complaints. Well done gentlemen. |

Hmm. The hook reminds of a song I've heard when I was little. The production is decent, and the rapping is ok at best.

As a fan of crossover in music genres, I like the pop/rock/hip hop combination - the band obviously has talent. Fun song, a little lightweight though... can't decide between two or three stars

This is definitely one of those feel good songs. I'm always a sucker for musicians that actually play an instrument. Great song.

This will be big on the radio but they probably won't go anywhere. They are a group that you need to love in order to be a fan. I don't think they will have many more songs. But this one was catchy, not VERY good but catchy.
