This past April, we were introduced to Rich Hil, a Connecticut native with chronic girl troubles and a hazy sound reminiscent of one Won’t You Tell Me). Six months later, the artist’s romantic woes haven’t abated, but his aural palette has undergone a bit of a shift; new single Can’t Stay Away stands smack-dab in the middle of the increasingly blurry line between pop and alt-rock, with producer Delivery Boy‘s reverb-drenched electric-guitar crunch and pensive keyboard chords brushing up against a handclap-heavy percussion rhythm. Hil turns in a nakedly emotional vocal performance, switching between hoarse flows and heartbroken melodies as he begs a beautiful girl named Evelyn not to walk out of his life. Will she heed Rich’s words and return so he can “rock [her] zeppelin” (yes, that’s a line in the song – and no, I’m not sure what precisely that entails) once again? Only one way to find out; by copping the artist’s new, Don Cannon-presented Ricky Goes to Rehab street album, available now online.

I totally looked over Rich's last mixtape release, so I am glad his camp decided to unleash several stand out cuts in No DJ form this past weekend. "Can't Stay Away" caught me off guard and in a "wow, I didn't expect that" kind of way.

Very nice production from Delivery Boy. I dont see this song being big, or liked by all. But, its a song i can see myself listening a few times. But it will get boring fast. Good luck Rich Hil.
