Knowing that hip-hop needs a strong political revolutionary like Public Enemy or KRS-One, Chi-Town representa’ Rhymefest has named and themed his sophomore album after the famous Central American revolutionary, El Che.  On the new song, Real Quotes, Fest spends half of the track rapping about the problems that plague society (in particular widespread police brutality) by reminding the listener: “If you don’t stand for something you’ll fall for anything.”  DJ Premier does his part by mixing in Real Quotes from various significant figures including Malcolm X and Bill Cosby.  In an industry filled with flossing and pop talk, it is always refreshing to hear someone do something to help the community.

Rhymefest can structure a bar as good as any skilled MC out there. This is a dense political track and Premo's spooky beat perfectly sets the mood. I love the quoted samples. This is one of tracks that don't get a single play on radio not because it's a bad record, but because it's too powerful.

Rhymefest is my guy and I'm not saying that because he is from my hometown of Chicago. I applaud him for putting together music with a message, but if he wants radio play and his album to get released on time (and with promotions), he needs to change it up a bit.

This dude has skills. He has a "real hip-hop" type of flow to him...almost something from the 90's (Boot Camp Click), but with a new twist. This song is good, but I don't think its enough for a chart topper.

The man named his album after Che Guevera and quotes Malcolm X repeatedly, something tells me he doesn't give a f*** about radio play and chart position.
