Racial and ethnic stereotypes have existed since the dawn of man; as long as people have shared opinions, the art of stereotyping has existed. Beyond racial and ethical lines, however, people are stereotyped based on a variety of characteristics, including their line of work and their education (or lack thereof). It is because of these generalized labels that rap music, for almost twenty years now, has been at the centerpiece of criticism and controversy. If one rapper says “f**k b*tches,” that’s what all rappers must do, right? Wrong; and Boston rapper REKS is out to prove that in his new song, Stereotypes. Blurring the extremes that often persuade the naïve to believe in standardized concepts, REKS openly and honestly tackles the topic. The track will be found on the forthcoming Grey Hairs.
REKS looks just like a young KRS-ONE in the picture we have...But I like the production on here as it has that TRUE HIP-HOP Feel to it! His flow is decent on here. I like the lyrics. This is yet another joint in Rotation!
Man, Reks is always a beast. This song content/topic was so funny. Reks is a great lyricist. I just had the honor of being featured on a nationwide hip hop compilation with him. This is some good hip hop right here. I give it 4 stars. W.O.W, don't even rate dis...you don't respect this type of music.
REKS tears this up! Someone needs to get this dude quickly, because he really has deep lyrics and a CRAZY flow. Great message, and great rapper. Definitely Bangin!
Is there's a place in music 4 this these days? I agree stereotypes are a reality. They do have truth to them in alotta situations. We all want to look at ourselves as individuals, but we all fall victim to the next man's ignorance. As long as we segregate ourselves from one another culturally, stereotypes will continue exist. Music like this is a step in the right direction. Unfortunately, without a voice box, it will most likely go unheard.
since I just got into hip hop... i think this might do well with people into old school hip hop! As for me, not my style... but lyrics are worth listen'n to!
This has a real good message, yall need to listen, we need this shit to be brought back... how does this song have the same rating as "I DANCE" by "s. Beezy" come on yall step it up, this real good work.
