On REKS’ junior album, the hip-hop purist revealed that the game had left him with a few Grey Hairs, and his senior set saw him sprouting more of the same.  Whether the emcee’s feeling a little less stressed or has simply discovered hair dye, though, he’s going back to R.E.K.S. (Rhythmatic Eternal King of Suspense) for album number five.  This past week, the Boston-area native went to the studio to record one of the standout tracks off the first-quarter 2010 release; That’s What’s Up finds him teaming up with fellow Northeast underground stalwart Bossman over a Statik Selektah-produced instrumental that sounds like the East Coast beatsmith’s hopeful contribution to Detox.  Bossman sums it up best: “F*ck a ‘So So Def’, bring the noise to ya ear!”  Now That’s What’s Up!

What is better than one slept-on emcee from the Northeast over a Statik Selektah beat? How about two! If you grab up Termanology and Akrobatik we could have a party! Looking forward to this new album.

This track is good but not as solid like his past joints "Play My Music" and "I, Too America" with Statik Selektah on boards. But you got to think to this song is more of a statement/bragging type song and Reks' is quite a beast at it. Statik killed it on the boards as usual, though this is not my favorite instrumental of his but he never comes off weak ... Rotation-Stuff.

Not bad. It's aight, but I agree with Mr. Top Hat that I, Too America was better. Still, REKS is a really talented emcee.

He's cool. The song was all right. Nice for an album but not a single. Sorry 3 Stars.
