Razah - Try
Artist: Razah
Producer: Eric Hudson
Album: None (Promo Single)
Label: Just Us Music Group
“Commitment” is a word that inspires… well, I won’t say “most,” but many men to run for the hills. Rising R&B star Razah, on the other hand, is a dude who knows the value of standing by a woman through thick and thin; as he demonstrates on new promo single Try, he’s not the type to let love go without a fight. Heavyweight producer Eric Hudson mans the boards, cooking up a not-remotely-groundbreaking-but-still-damn-catchy, keyboard-led instrumental as the singer pleads with his girl to give their relationship just one more chance: “We gotta make this work, I told you baby, we gotta fight.” To top it all off, an unknown axe-slinger steps in to do a little shredding on the back end; this may not be the type of song that screams out for a climatic guitar solo but I can’t front; it sounds pretty dope to me. How about it, Booth readers: will this promo cut get Razah the label attention he so richly deserves? If you’re digging it, you can look forward to the debut of the single’s official video accompaniment on December 29 (also the artist’s birthday, in case you were planning on sending a card).

Since he left Def Jam, Razah has tried and tried to create that one record that, major label or not, could really give him the exposure he's been looking for. Up to this point most of them were good/solid/OK songs, but nothing that would jump out at you and scream HIT or SMASH. While I am not saying "Try" will become a hit or a smash record, it does have the most potential of anything we've featured from Razah over the past few years - due in part to excellent production from EHud.

Well.... I seriously believe this has every possiblity to be a hit on the charts. This song definetly "jumped" out at me. The very second i pressed play, i knew it was a great record from Razah. The chorus is so smooth. This is one of the most enjoyable listens this month (considering what came out this month). The production from Eric Hudson is amazing. I will be listening to this for a LONG time. A banger, no doubt. Almost a classic. I would rate it a 4.9.

Definitely alot of talent here. Not the most spectacular voice i've ever heard but that's not important. So many expamples of that in today's music industry. He'll resigned real soon.

Have to fall more in line with PrIc3Le$$. No hate, this is a really enjoyable, well-crafted record, but I'm just not hearing what makes Razah stand out from the rest of the r&b pack.

I think this track is pretty dope. Reminds me of the upbeat R&B tracks of the 1990's. I think he has amazing vocals to say he is on a popish type record.
