I first discovered RayDawn at A3C Festival Atlanta. In my eyes he can do no wrong. His wordplay is better then some of the main stream cats. Fill Banks is another #Win he can add to his discography. Much Success!!!!

First and foremost, let me say this slaps in my car...now to the review. There is something appreciable about this submission by Ray Dawn: Ray's flow. It has a quality that carries the bare nature of the beat and construction. Don't get me wrong i do enjoy the beat as well but the repetitive nature would be more distracting absent Ray control of his lyrics. Definitely looking forward to watching it performed live!

Overall Fill Banks is a good track. Ray Dawn never fails to bring an arsenal of analogies and metaphors with him into the booth. He always has 2 guns blazing. The conceptual content of the song, in itself, wasn't anything novel. But the play on Phil Banks was pretty damn creative. The production was good; it got me hype, but I wasn't a fan of the slight change of pace of the music during the hook. It felt like the song gratuitously slowed down and killed the amped up vibe a little. Ray Dawn writes and delivers GREAT hooks..... GREAT I tell you! But this time he fell a tad bit short of living up to the quality of dope hooks he's written in the past. I wanted to give Fill Banks 3.5 stars but I wasn't afforded that option. I couldn't do 4 or 5 because I know Ray has sooooo much more potential and many many more 5 star tracks to come in the near future. Can't wait!

Ray's flow and vocal presence is cocky as well as unique. It shows a ton of promise for music when independent Artists like Ray create tracks like the those in the industry, but better.
The beat is good (definite head nodder) but not great, and Ray seems to carry the music with his song. Hence the 4-star rating. |
