On Sept. 19, six-time world Champion “Pretty Boy” Floyd Mayweather will come out of retirement for a bout against John Manuel Márquez.  It goes without saying that the legendary pugilist’s return to the ring deserves hard-hitting hip-hop commemoration, and although the tribute track we watched Konvict singer Ray Lavender and Jeff “Pay$0z” Chery record in a recent video ultimately wasn’t selected as the boxer’s official theme music, there’s no denying it packs a mean punch.  Originally set to premiere in the Booth but recently leaked to the ‘net in unfinished form, the unreleased cut finds the collaborators squaring off against their challengers over an hyped-up synth-string beat by J Hot.  Pay bobs and weaves his way through two verses, waxing poetic about Mayweather’s many achievements, and Ray ties it all together with a high-powered hook.  Pound for pound, Champion is a knockout, and should leave listeners amped for the upcoming bout as well as the projected year-end release of Chery’s Booth-sponsored Going Against the Grain mix-album.

I thought this was decent but I don't think this is as sick as everyone else is sayin. I thought the beat was a little simple. Pay$oz did come pretty hard but I thought the production needed another element to take those verses to another level. The first part of the hook was a bit repetitive too, butthe second part of it where the beat switched up was real tight. This wasn't bad at all but I just don't think its as tight as everyone is sayin it is.

Mr. Jeff Chery is lighting up the Booth with hot joints tonight. I love it! This is one beast of a track and both Pay and Ray kill it on their end. J Hot supplied that dope beat and it was OVER! Going Against the Grain is about to be nothing but pure fire. Pay$0z is here and he's a problem folks.

Ray holds the main credit on this song, but Jeff really does his thing (sorry, Ray - you should have taken a full verse). It's Mayweather's loss that he didn't want to use this. Very hyped.

Track definitely is bananas, track makes u hype and I like the way Jeff Chery executed the topic, his word play ws crazy, the purpose of the song was served with a bangin production and a catchy hook

Production is good but nothing memorable. And that hook's gotta uplifting vibe but weak execution. Its def gonna get annoying after a few listens. I think they went a little too hard to make the hook stadium-status with all that repetition of the title and that lessens the effectiveness. However, Pay$0z came right on the track with his verses ... Rotation-Stuff.
