On the first official leak off her forthcoming, Mick Boogie/DJBooth.net-presented #Trending Topics mixtape, RAtheMC does just that, using the fantasy of leaving this Earth behind as a metaphor for lofty ambitions, musical or otherwise. In a lilting, measured flow somewhat different from her usual, hard-hitting rhyme style, the femcee encourages all those unhappy on the nine-to-five grind to “fly away” and pursue their dreams. Frequent production collaborator JUDAH backs RA’s stellar message with some appropriately out-of-this-world boardwork, blending downtempo percussion, heavy bass and ambient samples to ominous effect – the headliner’s soulfully hollow sung hook adds to the eerie feel.
