Call me old-fashioned, but I always proceed with caution when a track title doesn’t take the time to spell itself correctly. I can only let formalities like that slide on a few occasions, and thankfully whenever Rapsody drops a new track on the Booth is one of them (oh happy Thursday!). Hailing from SC, I immediately became a fan of NC neighbors Kooley High, and Rapsody’s solo project as a result. The first leak, U Sparklin’, takes listeners back to a time in music where a steady beat and sultry voice could earn you widespread respect and fame. This is no easy feat, but since Rapsody’s a member of 9th Wonder’s team, great production can meet great vocal talent, resulting in a smoothly entrancing record. With Kooley High on the rise and her latest project, Return of the B-Girl, dropping December 7, via The Booth, we’ll be hearing much more from Rapsody in the near future. And if you still can’t get your fix, be sure to keep a lookout for the Kooley crew to join our Freestyle Series very soon.

When 9th Wonder co-signs an artist (hey, have you checked out Thee Tom Hardy?) they have talent... period. Rapsody is no exception to that rule. While she has to fit into what KH does as a collective, here she gets the chance to shine solo and does... uh... sparkling.

I have to say I prefer Rapsody going in a little harder, but we all need to sit down and relax every so often. I'm a huge Kooley High fan, and I wouldn't at all be surprised if she's the breakout star of the group.

The direction the production took was a misguided and lost her way, also I think she needs work on her vocals.
