When one of the greatest emcees to ever pick up a mic drops a new track, you listen. The incomparable Rakim is back with the second single off his new album The Seventh Seal, the pounding Walk These Streets. Over a cinematically epic beat from Needlz, Rakim drops his version of money making music, explaining the current state of the game with astounding clarity: “They say don’t let money make you / but that’s how they rate you / and the more you got the more they hate you.” The man’s a legend for a reason. Joining Rakim on Walk These Streets are the vocals of newcomer Tracey Horton and New York mainstay Maino, who gives the track a serious old-school meets new-school vibe. Any way you cut it, Rakim’s still an elite rapper more than 20 years after he first joined the game. After numerous delays, The Seventh Seal is slated to finally drop in mid-November.

This is sick! Rakim is pure fire every time. I loved this production and it suited Rakim perfectly. The hook sounded real sweet. Maino was solid and added a nice touch. This is a 4.5 at least, so I'm gonna round up.

For some reason, this reminds me of that type of music you listen to walking home in the dark. It's funny, cuz that popped in my head immediately before I even realized that the song was called "Walk These Streets". Ironic huh? The production on here was dope. Rakim was definitely on point. Maino was ill too. I think homey is underrated and I don't know why people hate on him so much. The hook was nicely done too. To sum it up, the whole thing was nearly flawless.

Welcome back, Rakim-officially! If you looked at most rappers' inspiration trees, they either list Rakim or a rapper inspired by him (Biggie, Pac, Hova, Nas, and Shady are among those). He is one of very few rappers from the Northeast who can sound at home on a West Coast beat (as that by Needlz-potential Best of the Booth nominee-who himself is from the Northeast, I think)
I must admit, I wondered how Maino would ever match up. But he certainly holds his own here (like Mike Dreams said, he's REALLY underrated). Welcome back, Rakim-November 17 is the day! |

I tried finding something that wasn't good but no success lol .... 4.5
Its a pretty big co-sign for Rakim to put you on his CD… even a mixtape. Good look for Maino who does a solid job for what he can do on his level of lyricism and like @Burmy said he's really underrated and "If Tomorrow Comes" deserves more recognition. Not the best debut album you'll ever come across but mos def enjoyable/listenable from front to back and dats saying something these days, right? |

Maino stepped up his game to hold his own with the God Rakim. Glad to see him coming back with another album, he has never dropped a weak one.

Mike Dreams said it well, "Near flawless".
Rakim said it well too, "Timeless. So age don't count in the booth, when your flow stay submerged in the fountain of youth." 5/5 Nothing less. |

Thank God. A real artist with musical prowess that attacks a sick beat with energy, emotion, and lyrical skill. This song motivates me. Definitely going in my gym mix rotation.

Great song. Respect to Needlz for the production! Rakim knows what to do with production like this. The hook is okay, although I feel the timing of the vocals is slightly off from the sound. That could be just me though.

I was kind of surprised to see that Maino of all rappers was featured on this new Rakim joint. But like you guys said he was actually pretty good. Rakim was crazy on the track though. He completely killed it. Some nice hip hop for real. Can't forget Tracey Horton. He laid down a tight hook. 4.5 rounded up to 5.

Rakim is so at home with the production, and straight up commands the whole track, while maino definatley adds to the song without taking anything away

This the sorta music hip-hop needs. Rakim showin he hasn't let standards drop after bout 20 years in the game. Production by Needlz fitted both Rakim and Maino's style on this track perfectly. Hopin this album will be available in the UK but aint gna hold my breath.
