If DJBooth.net were a farm and Rain was, uh, rain, our figurative crops would be getting pretty thirsty right about now. Fortunately for those hoping to salvage this year’s harvest, the drought has come to an end – this calls for a hootenanny! OK, OK; as you’ve probably guessed, I don’t know agriculture from a hole in the ground, and I have no idea what a hootenanny is. I do know, however, that it’s been too long since last we heard from North Carolina emcee Rain. On album leak Goodness Gracious, the N.C. Native and exclusive freestyle series participant discusses a cash crop that we’re all trying to cultivate: that is, cash itself. Flowing over his own street-ready, swung beat (featuring an apropos vocal sample from Biggie‘s Gimme the Loot), the up-and-comer fills us in on just how much paper he’s planning on stacking. On the back end, West Coast emcee Noah Jones takes center stage to flaunt his cutting-edge automobile collection: “Goodness gracious, my transportation’s futuristic like an outer-spaceship…” This money-hungry jam and much more will be found on Rain’s long-awaited Life in Marvelous Times LP, set to finally arrive in stores this June.

the beat is pretty cool...word play is nice as well...hook is garbage, i dare anybody to go against that...but this is pretty hype...but im not feeling that biggie sample...Noah did pretty good as well, and they both might be on my radar but i have to hear more...in my case this is not a solid song and i believe that they shouldn't have been so lazy on the hook

I couldn't get with this at all. It just felt too rough or something. I've never really heard anything else from Rain so I won't judge him, but as for the song.. 2 stars.

Biggie samples will never go out of style and this is more than timely considering Tuesday was the death-aversery of Biggie's passing. Rain and Noah both sound comfortable over the Rain's catchy production, but neither steal the spotlight away from the sampled Biggie vocals.
Its a unwritten rule that you never want a feature artist to take the proverbial cake, but its even worse if (and when) the sampled vocals threaten the main artist. In the end, though, this is more rotation-worthy. |

This productioon is all over the place, its like it has A.D.D or something.
P.S the time will come when using vocal samples like those from biggie will backfire on the artist spittin' the 16 and the beathsmith behind the board: Just a warning. |

RIP BIG
This beat is a monster, I was breaking my neck nodding to it. While I'm digging Rain's style, the lyrical content isn't blowing me away. I'll average it out to three stars. Good, but nothing incredible. And just because you can never say it enough, RIP BIG. |

This took me a couple listens. I still don't like how the "Biggie" sample is used, but this beat is a BANGER. Rain has his moments. Jones sounds more comfortable over this.
