Raheem DeVaughn - I Don't Care
Artist: Raheem DeVaughn
Producer: The Stereotypes and Ne-Yo
Album: The Love&War Masterpiece
Label: 368 Music Group/Mass Appeal Ent.
Feeling a little apathetic today? This just might be your jam. On the second single off his forthcoming junior album, Raheem DeVaughn tells the world just how indifferent he is to his naysayers’ opinions, particularly when it comes to his love life: “Let them hate if they wanna – I Don’t Care” Fortunately for listeners, the singer’s vocal delivery doesn’t match the track’s noncommittal title, nor does the instrumental backdrop; DeVaughn laces the track with silky-smooth kiss-offs and melismatic vocal runs, and Los Angeles trio The Stereotypes rise to the occasion with a triumphant beat blending brass fanfare, jazzy organ chords, and tambourine-driven percussion. It all adds up to an upbeat cut that should elicit much more than a shrug from Booth readers. The Love&War MasterPiece is set to drop sometime in the first quarter of 2010 via Jive Records. In the meantime, keep it locked to our front page for all the latest broadcasts from Radio Raheem.

(keepin it simple.) RD has done better, this song is ok but i feel he has hotter tracks than this.

Raheem called this a "classic" on his own website. It's a shade under that level (in DJBooth terms), but still leaps and bounds better than most of the field. Raheem keeps getting better with age - he should sponsor a wine company or something.

Not so crazy about this. Love the band-instrumental type beat but lyrics was a bit forgettable. Still can't wait for the album.

this has a good feel to it just seems like he has put in by far better work in the past. then again his style was slighly different when he was more underground, this is not bad though

This sounded like a pretty good upbeat song to me. There's a lot goin on with the production, which really makes it interesting and RD made this track his own. I like it. 3.5

I'll give it a 3, More of a Grown-er Up sound. It kinda reminds me of Robin Thicke's "Magic" song from last year.
(That has nothing to do with it coming on 106 & Park today) |

This was a classic on first listen. The upbeat, jazzy instrumental reminds me of Robin Thicke's hit "Magic".

The production on this is huge, some of the best of his career, but oddly this isn't one of my favorite vocal performances from him. Maybe I just like his slower stuff, maybe I'm not in the right mood, but either way this didn't hit me as hard as I though it would.

It's the hook that lacks the muster to become the anthem it wants to be, in my humble opinion. Despite that I completely dig the upbeat tone and as expected smooth vocals by Raheem. Rotation fa sho!

Something BIG is lacking to put this in regular rotation. A little energy is needed to put this track on the level its wants to be on vs the one its actuallly on. 2 stars

I love Raheem but this does not measure up to his typical work. I got to listen "bullets" just to get this out of my head.
