With temperatures in my home city (Minneapolis) at 20 degrees and only going lower, outdoor recreation without a heavy coat, boots, mittens and balaclava has become life-threatening, if not utterly impossible. As much as I love strolling the arctic tundra and scoping out chicks in parkas, I can’t say I’m not jealous of those still able to kick it at the beach with babes in bikinis. On new promo single Cali Livin, Golden State newcomers Radio Traffic give those in chillier climes a taste of what they’re missing. DemKatz’ synth-sizzling reinterpretation of The Mamas and the Papas’ classic California Dreaming sets the mood, banging in the back as vocalists Mista Perkins, X2, and V New depict the joys of life on the Left Coast in infectious sung and flowed verses. Heavyweight guest Snoop Dogg brings his usual, laid-back swag to the front, waxing poetic about the simple pleasures of his high-rolling lifestyle (“Kush, blunts, Henny & Coke / A cute little chick who’ll do what you want…”) Does this aural ray of sunshine leave you craving more? Sounds like a industry track, but yeah I can see this getting a lot of love, especially on the left coast.

Aside from the lack of originality here, this is super catchy. I am surprised JR Rotem hasn't touched this one yet ha. I'd like to hear some more original source material from these guys before I make any overriding judgments on their talents.

I like this new play off the classic. Snoop was pretty good and Radio Traffic was decent. The beat is a club banger for sure...especially if you are in Cali.
