A new track with R. Kelly, T-Pain and Keyshia Cole!? Thank you sweet baby Jesus, thank you. By themselves T-Pain and R. Kelly are usually hilarious enough, but together the potential for catchy R&B comedy is off the charts. Sure enough, the Pied Piper’s new track Number One (Remix) delivers. Not only does T-Pain refer to someone’s “asscap,” whatever that is, but R. Kelly softly croons about “smokening“ an illicit substance and brags about his ability to make a woman’s “p**sy speak in auto-tune.” It’s enough to almost make you forget Keyshia’s seriously musical contribution. While the track’s auto-tune heavy vibe, courtesy of RiffRaph and Roy “Royalty” Hamilton, might be a little played out, Kelly’s unpredictable genius more than makes up for it. Number One is the official remix of the original track, which featured Keri Hilson. No word yet on what Kelly’s next project will be, though whatever it is, I’m sure it will be unbelievable.

Very similar to the remix (which was hot), but the addition of Teddy and Keisha can never be a downgrade. What I love about this song, and the original, is how much energy it contains for such a slow love track.
The chorus is still my favorite part, so I'm glad they didn't tweak that. I loved Pain on the 'Same Girl Remix', so I was very happy to see him come and improve this one. Banger. |

what happened to D.O.A.? Kellz and Hov not as tight anymore?
I thought the original was kinda weak musically. This remix is a lot better. I've had a hard time w/out fresh Kellz on the radio, and hope his new album delivers. |

Great melodic addition to a good song, Kellz and Teddy makes a great team, autotune was well handled! and it was an equal match between both. I wasn't a big fan of the original song but T-Pain just keep making Remixes better than their respective Originals. Keyshia was fine as always. Now watch this song tear up the charts. The question that needs to be asked is how long it has been since Robert had a radio-smash on his own ???

Yup, I'm with the consensus on this one: it's dope.
On a side note, I love Nathan's write ups (especially on Refined Hype) but I think sometimes he misses the point of some rapper's wordplay like Kelz saying he's goin to put his B.M.I. (a play on Broadcast Music Inc) all over your ASCAP (a play on the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publisher but it's whatever, cuz I STILL love the write ups lol |

Kellz brought it here, but I just am too annoyed by T-pain's voice. Got Money and I am in love with a stripper are the only songs that I can stand his voice. To much auto-tune for me. But Kellz brought it and Keyshia was a nice addition. But, Pain brought this down for me.

I like Keyshia's verse but I hate T-Pain, I'm with you Kris Johnson...can't hear him anymore, he ruins every song. Fortunately R Kelly has a wonderful voice, but the first part of this song is terrible

I wasn't too impressed when I heard the track yesterday but it grew on me. His "brand" of remixes tradionally had a different beat that made the song just as good or better than the original i.e. ignition, step in the name of love, sex me, down low, etc. Hey Z, is there any way you can contact his ppl and suggest he do a tribute song for the Chi? ATL, NY, and LA artists have done it. Maybe he can feature any or all the following: Ye, Common, Lupe, Da Brat, Carl Thomas

Once Kells did Trapped In a Closet he was basically announcing 'I'm going to do whatever I want, even if its bordeline insane" so I'm not at all surprised Kelly's still using auto-tune after D.O.A. Simply put, the rules don't apply to him (including apparently statutory rape laws). Goddamn I love his lyrics on this. Who else could get away with something like "smokening"?

Trey was right, Kell put down the damn auto-tune. You have the makings of a fire remix and we get this damn mess. Keyshia was damn good, Pain and Kell, not so much.
