Even though R. Kelly’s been out of the spotlight recently, no one sets the mood better than my man Kells, and his new single When a Woman Loves, reminds us why the Chi-Town crooner’s a contemporary legend. Powerfully sung, harmoniously pieced together, When a Woman Loves is worthy of the Luther Vandross, Al Green, and Jeffrey Osborne comparisons sure to ensue. The slow beat and beautiful melody, reminiscent of that classic Motown sound, also happens to be produced by the multi-talented Mr. Kelly, and his expertly understated vocal performance proves just how far he’s come as an artist in recent years, resulting in a lush record that clearly pays homage to his old school musical influences. I’m not gonna lie, this cut made me sweat a little… and then call my boyfriend over for dinner. So ladies, grab that special someone, turn up the heat (I mean, the volume), and show your man what it means to love for real. Hospitals can expect a baby boom nine months after Kelly’s upcoming album, Love Letters, drops on some yet-to-be-determined date.

This is R. Kelly calling all of his longtime fans, the ones who remember the days when he didn't need a club banger or rap feature, and letting them know he is still making quality music. It works for me and I have a feeling it will work for you, too.
Heck, I could hear my mother and father rotating "When a Woman Loves" in their respective iPods.

This has a great old-school vibe to it. The production is nice and Kells was on fire vocally. I still feel like he could do better, but I'm not complaining about this either.

As a fan of classic RnB, this was a nice attempt by R. Kelly. Unfortunately, and most likely contrary to most of the readers' opinions, I'm not feelin it as much as I "should." The Booth always makes an effort to present versatility not just by new artists, but by some in the game who attempt to re-invent themselves. I just can't look past Robert Sylvester Kelly's history to love this cut more than one or two listens.

I just can't understand any of the negative comments. We're talking about true belting. Today's saturated R&B as got some of you all confused. Nice job Robert. The song fits the title "Love Letter" which some forgot how a song fits into an ablum theme.

I admit I like Kelly better when he's being crazy and sexual, but the man's obviously got some serious musical roots, and I have to give it up to him. This is r&b at its most pure.

I am giving this song 1 star. Not because he is not an amazing vocalist or because this song isn't well written. Because he is awesome. I am giving this song 1 star because I can't stop myself from picturing him singing this to a 15 year old girl. Kells is gross.

This is the side of R.Kelly I prefer personally. Inspirational tracks > Crazy Sexual tracks. I would've liked a better build-up vocally. He just gets stuck in straight away and things stay the same level, minimizing a decent, powerful climatic end

Obviously some of you are use to hearing crap on the radio not to know when real R/B is sung. Trey Songz please, he mutilated Prince's song at the awards! R Kelly can really sing..live. Miss hearing real music on the radio with meaning, feeling and not one sentence. Cant wait for the entire CD!

LOL @bmango. You are truly delusional. What more must R. Kelly do. Gave a heart felt song and followed up with an impressive video to match. He's critize for continuing with the wave of R&B music HE started (Ignition Remix anyone?). And how can anyone talk about his vocals being up to par. Name one other R&B artist that could pull this off any better and DJ Z will give you a feature.

I was expechting the sex-freak filled metaphors and some club sample when i was this feature. But R Kelly taps into the soul of Marvin Gaye on this one and this could possbly be the best song R Kely has ever recorded putting his best vocal talents to use. Very impressive i must say.

I love the old school feel to this song. I hope that R. Kelly goes back to his r&b roots and give us some smooth r&b joints like he did back in the day, instead of them silly club bangers he makes. I think he's finally realizing that he's getting up there in age and the party joints are starting to be a little ridiculous.

I have just finished listening to this track and I was deeply moved. R. Kelley is truly a gifted musician. I had witnessed R. Kelley's performance on the Soul Train Music Awards where he performed this tune and I was quite captivated but sitting here listening to the song now,this track stirred me as few songs have done recently. Thumbs Ups. I give this song the highest ratings possible.
