Question? - Is It Cuz Im White?
Artist: Question?
Producer: Unknown
Album: The Empire Presents: I.I.C.I.W Mixtape
Label: Unsigned
Question?, the San Antonio rapper found getting High In The DJBooth back in mid-April, has a… (give me a second to flip through my thesaurus) a query for all those who doubt his ability to transform the game: “Is It Cuz Im White?” Kicking the record off with a declaration of war on the music industry, Question? gets in jabs at everyone from Rihanna and Cassie to Yung Berg and Rick Ross over an unknown beatsmith’s ominous instrumental (I’m guessing that sample is taken from Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana; anyone with an hour to burn is welcome to sit through the whole piece and let me know for sure). IICIW‘s most striking moment comes on the back end, when Question? steps back from the orchestral bombast to level with listeners a cappella, admitting that he’s not sure how to clean up the mess the game has become but stating with confidence that he’s “soon to be.” If you agree, stay tuned for the emcee’s The Empire Presents: I.I.C.I.W mixtape, coming soon.

Man, this production is too epic to be uncredited. Question? comes wit some intensity over it, and speaks the truth. Lyrics and subject matter is tight, and the man can spit.

That production is hot, definitely made for an upbeat flow like Question delivers. Emma Lane was right with the witty raps, he can definitely hold his on over the track.

Question? once again shows us why he has plenty to offer on the mic. Very clever rhymes, an enjoyable flow and cadence, and impressive production from a producer whose information I was not give (ahem).
Look out for the I.I.C.I.W mixtape, people. |

Damn, I never heard of Question, but now I'm questioning who this dude is. I like this, and I can't wait to here some more material from him. His punchlines are sick, and he has some creative word play. I can't wait for his mixtape now.

This may be the year of the white rapper. Alotta quality cats @ettin it in these days. ? is one of um without a doubt. His flow doesn't match this beat. But the lyrics are sick. He will make some enemies with this one.

Normally, I'd give this a 4, because it's a banger all-around (beat, hard-hitting lyrics, strong-pulsed delivery). However, not every MC can tear apart a joint with no background (which Question does for about a minute). For that, I'm giving the extra star. Congrats Question, you're officially in the "Booth favorites" class!

Yeah, I agree with Burmy, he tore this up. The other reason for the classic ratings is the subject matter, this song was a long time comin. And yeah the production was nuts!!! Acappella was off the chain!!!

@Richard - No, this is not from Carmina Burana. I don't believe it is. My band (yes, I'm in the band; go clarinets!!!) is playing excerpts from Burana for our concert, and I am 99% sure it's not from there.
But I must say, I LOVE THIS SONG!!! Whenever anyone spits over some classical music, it's automatically Banger (unless it sucks, of course). But when you get that chorus in the background ON TOP of the classical music, makes it Classic!!! |

dope song, but the beat is from Snowgoons, who are great producers.
Original song I think is.. The Curse Snowgoons featuring King Magnetic, Charon Don & Reef The Lost Cauze I'm not 100% sure, but I'm like 99% sure it's that song. |

It's cool. I like the background music on this track. His rapping is kind blah for me. It's like he's yelling at me- but he's not lol. So yeah anyway....I can't really hate but I don't think it's on my top 100.

The Beat is a monster. But when the beat cuts off you get a Better Appreciation for his flow. Sounds Alot better than that Asher roth cat.The "stick it so far in her @*#$! u cant see my watch/put your ear to her belly and hear it tick tock" is hilarious!

Now as long as he doesn't lose his edge he'll continue to be a lyrical assassin, that has my speakers blastin, I don't know if there are beats that are hot enough to mesh with him? Dis is the kinda ish that makes one appreciate the underground.

This is the exact same beat Joe Budden used on his track named "dumb out" back in 02!! And Joe completely DESTROYED that track!! That track is 100x better than this!! If you havent heard it yet go listen to it and i promise you will agree wit me!! Joe Buddens track is a straight 5 but this deserves only a 2 since the beat is basically the same and his flow is ight!!

this beat is from another song by the SNOWGOONS. maybe black snow? I don't know, but as soon as I heard this, I recognized it. there might be a few tweaks to it, but its definitely from a snowgoons track.

The sample originated from an anime titled escaflowne, and the composer is Yoko Kanno. Check her out she's amazing. As for the track I dig it. Not perfect, but good.
