Quest da Youngin' - So Crazy
Artist: Quest da Youngin'
Producer: Artisin of ST. Da Squad
Album: Quest for Greatness
Label: ST. Da Squad
Booth newcomer Quest tha Young’n may be, well, a young’n, but don’t get it twisted; as the Boston up-and-comer explains on newly-released single So Crazy, he’s been around the block enough times to know exactly how cruel this world can be. With the help of ST. Da Squad beatsmith Artisin, who crafts an appropriately gritty, sampled instrumental, Quest takes us on a journey through the streets where he began his hustle, giving numerous examples of the havoc inner-city poverty and drug addiction can wreak on one’s body and soul: “I knew this pretty girl on my block, and I guess she was a dope fiend and she caught the virus… five feet, eyes were green, she was only 19.” Topped off with the mournful hook vocals of singer Good Brotha, this single is about as far as you can get from a carefree summer jam, but listeners who put a premium on realness will undoubtedly appreciate what Quest brings to the table. Fans can find more where this came from on the artist’s Quest for Greatness LP, released May 25 and available now online.

Shouts to my friend Dan Green for introducing me to Mr. Quest this morning. I had not heard of his previously, but came away from listening to this record very impressed.
Very well put together record here, accented wonderfully by a catchy hook from Good Brotha and subdued yet effective production by Artisin of ST. Da Squad. Don't judge a book by its cover, people! This is a solid record. |

Strong vocals on a nice chorus, but the production on the verses gets repetitive.

I've actually heard of this guy's track before but I feel he's gotten much better since his past tracks. Good track, catchy but I'm not quite feeling this one. Maybe it'll grow on me

Hmmmmm....definitely something interesting, but it's not connecting with me on a deeper level. Honestly, maybe it's just because the intro's so long - it's a full minute until we hear Quest.
With that said, the production's solid, as are the rhymes. You got to respect the man's truth telling flows. Quest's definitely on my radar. |

I agree Nathan, the 1:00 till the verse is "So Crazy". Verse is better than the beat, and hook both. Overall not my cup of tea. 2 stars.

Less intrpo, more quest, this man was lyrically on fire on this track, but too little too late on this track.
