What if video game characters had to navigate through the REAL world? They’d be disappointed that there were no treasure chests with extra coins or re-up packs for energy. But they would find QuEST, the Miami-emcee and DJBooth Freestyle alum who takes a verbal trip inside “the game” with his new record Inner Sense. The beat conqueror reveals himself as a master lyricist over an M&D production which sounds as if Zelda went insane at a drumline audition. As he flows steady and paces the track with unpredicted spurts of quickness, QuEST challenges every player to look at their interactive level: “Go go going on/don’t you know whats going on?/ they gonna crush your innocence so you can’t find your inner sense.” Only real gamers speak like that, and QuEST makes this one a must-listen. Although Inner Sense didn’t make the cut, The Reason: A Defense Mechanism is set for release in November. Good thing it’s releasing digitally and not on a gold cartridge - that would blow.

QuESt has a knack for taking alternative beats and soaking them in his style to make them his own. Many a rapper would suffer through this M&D production/sample, but that isn't the case here. QuESt is another example of an on-the-rise artist who is getting better over time.

Production on this takes center stage ALONG with QuESt. Alot of times the production leaves the artist behind the mic in the dust but QuESt def. holds his own on this track and blends perfectly here with the instrumental accompanied by a banger hook.

I have to be honest. Impressed by QuESt, just not so much the production/sample.

I thought this was dope as hell. The beat does have a video game vibe but it doesn't get gimmicky, and Quest's flow on this was extraordinary. I don't think he misses a single syllable anywhere. Maybe could have used a better sample for the hook, but there's really nothing to complain about here.

QuESt is very underrated. If anyone hasn't taken the time to download "The Reason," I highly suggest you do. Greatness comes in many forms and QuESt is definitely a cut above most rappers out there right now.

Are these people serious? This is better than any of that junk that J-Cole or other mainstream artists spew out.
