When you’re kicking it with the frontman of Odd Future Wolf Gang, you can safely assume that some commandments are gonna be broken. Thus, it’s only appropriate that Pusha T follow up Trouble on My Mind, the Tyler the Creator-assisted lead single off his solo debut by taking us to church on the follow-up. As you may have guessed, however, the overall mood of Amen is more swaggeriffic than penitent. Shawty Redd keeps it street on the production tip, blending synth-brass with a slow-rolling rhythm as the Clipse member appraises the state of his immortal soul: “Time to get saved—too late! Time to get paid / Got a gun and a stocking mask / N*ggas thought I was tryin’ to get waves?” G.O.O.D. Music head honcho Kanye West makes brief appearances on the front and middle, notably threatening his enemies with pneumonia (”‘Cause I’m colder than an elf and a sleigh.”), and Young Jeezy brings the record home with some of his trademark trap talk (”Got them units packed in the back of the van like the A-Team…”). Does Pusha’s latest effort have you praising the Lord? Then be sure to pick up his highly-anticipated Fear of God 2 EP when it hits store shelves and online retailers August 23.

I understand "Watch The Throne" was not full of guest emcees (there were none), but if I could have picked anyone (besides J. Cole, ha) to appear on that project it would have been Pusha T. His attitude on the mic is just plain mean and the end result every time is an enjoyable listening experience. You can just tell he gives two sh**s.

Definition of a banger right here. Everyone brought the heat, but I guess because of Shawty Redd's production or Jeezy having a verse and a hook. This overrall feels like Jeezy's song. For a while I got tired of hearing Pusha's music but this and Trouble On My Mind changed that.
@Z That would of been crazy if The Throne would of had Cole and Pusha on one record. It could of happen/ still can since J. Cole is signed to Jay and Pusha is signed to Ye. Gotta pray for that (yes, pun intented). |

Pretty catchy all round tune but I feel as if there's still something missing, either way was hot. Jeezy was a nice additive, fitted the beat.

Heard this on Jeezys "Last Laugh" mixtape and it didnt have Pusha and Ye on it, and i actually liked it better. I like Ye and Pusha, but Jeezy by himself on this gave me more satifaction..

Is it me or has Yeezy gotten meaner on the mic? Over the last couple years Yeezy has dropped the 808's style and just got straight vicious.
That aside Pusha is fire as usual, but beside him Jeezy sounds sleepy. |
