Though you, our readers, selected Paul Couture‘s Luda-featuring Self-Made Millionaire as the top R&B record by an unsigned/underground artist in our 2008 Best of the Booth Awards, Pure‘s debut single, Walkin’, made a strong showing and became our ‘Staff Pick’ for the category. The third single off the Newark native’s yet-untitled debut (due out this year) continues in the chillier, more club-friendly vein of his second Booth feature, Your Love. On the newly-released record, Pure expresses his devotion to a woman who makes him feel like a Superstar. All I Need Ent. provides the beat, suffusing mechanical crunches and whirs with an synthesized glow. The line “I can’t be without you” may lose some of its romantic luster when repeatedly intoned in a cold, robotic voice, but Pure picks up the emotional slack with his heartfelt vocals, singing, “She’s the beat of my heart, the air that I breathe, the reason that I exist.” Whether or not his love interest feels the same way, I think we can all agree that big things await this budding Superstar in ‘09.

I liked the beat @ the beginning but then it kinda got fast and I started not liking it, but then it slowed down again and I started liking it again. It needs to stay slow the whole time!...He does have a nice voice...it makes you want to listen to what he's saying. It's in rotation. I like this guy- I listened ALL the way through.

holy s*#@ i dont usually listen to the unsigned artists...im a mainstream kinda dude. but damn...this jam got a nice feel to it. love the techno feel to it too. very nice 5/5

I dont know what's wrong with people nowadays.I grew up listening to hip hop,R&B, jazz,etc. I just loved music simply because of its originality, its difference and its creativity. We've been hearing that today's music sounds the same but the minute an artist attempts to push the envelope and be different we quickly turn to hold that against them. Much props to this artist because its about time we here something fresh and new. I dont even think the likes of Prince, Rick James, James Brown would make it in today's music industry because too much of us have been brainwashed and close-minded. Let's applaud creativity and difference. I am damn sure if you listen to this record at minimum 3 times you will hear the hit in this song!Rock on Pure. More DJ's need to show support! And more artists should dare to be different. My bad for venting "I just want that old thang back!!" Bring back my music!!

i agree, blackrhum. theres no way you cant like this track...its got all the makins of a classic, especially with all this fake s#*$ comin out nowadays. it deserves another 5/5, cuz its just as good the second time as it was the first. actually a little better.

I don't like his voice so much although I must say he can sing. But the production is hot, it's so weird and fresh...I'm loving it! Plus I can understand almost all the lyrics and I like them

I liked the other song Your Love and I like this one too, but I can tell that too much of this guy at once would be annoying. He is one I have to take in moderation - so what does that say for his talent as an artist. I don't even think its so much Pure as it is the production that would get to me. Vocally, he's not the best - he can carry a tune which sometimes is all it takes if you have fire production-which i don't think this does.
