Pugs Atomz - Now Baby
Artist: Pugs Atomz
Featuring: Señor Kaos
Producer: Mullato Patriot
Album: The Decade
Label: Enohes Music
Chi-town mainstay and freestyle series contributor Pugs Atomz is no novice in the field of love and attraction, but even the smoothest of players can, if they’re not careful, find themselves in any number of awkward situations. On new mixtape leak Now Baby, making its world premiere right here in the Booth, “The good Gent” and three Windy City cohorts give us the rundown on a few uncomfortable experiences of their own. After detailing a classic beer-goggles scenario over Mullato Patriot‘s head-noddable chopped-soul-sample boardwork (complete with guest horn by The Primeridian‘s Simeon Vitz), the headilner cedes the mic to Psalm One, who recounts how she achieved victory over a “slutty freakazoid jump-off floozy” who had her eye on the femcee’s man. MC ADAD gets a little more abstract in his vivid closing bars, and Bad Bad Man emcee Señor Kaos rounds out the lineup, contributing his flowed vocals to the chorus. Craving more new tunes from Pugs Atomz? Mark your calenders – The Decade, a collection of unreleased material recorded throughout the 2000s, is scheduled to hit stores Oct. 26.

Real solid collabo cut here from Pugs. There isn't that overwhelming feeling you can get with some large posse cuts (see Kanye) and the vibe is the reason.

Pugsley continues to impress. Mullato's production was a nice touch, but I think Pugz stole the show. "Kinda Like a Rapper" was pretty dope and I'm really looking forward to what Pugz has in store.

Man that beat is impossible to ignore. Dopeness.
Might be a less is more situation though - I would have been interested to see what Pugz did with multiple verses. Could have maybe flipped this into a storytelling piece (thinks of Ms. Fat Booty). |
