DJ Booth Exclusive Freestyle

The 44th entry in our DJBooth.net Freestyle Series comes courtesy of Pugs Atomz, the Chi-town up-and-comer who made his Booth debut with They Ain’t in late April.  The Enohes Music/Slo Flo emcee, whose brand new Higher freestyle finds him flowing over an industry instrumental by J. Dilla, was originally featured on Q-Tip‘s record of the same name.  Pugs is currently working on his forthcoming Road to the Roof Top mixtape, the official prelude to the June release of studio album The Roof Top, and will soon drop a new single entitled Wait and See.  Fans can hear the emcee live on Chicago’s WHPK 88.5 FM every Wednesday night from 9:00 PM to 12:00 AM, or stream the program from the station’s website.

A TRUE freestyle in every sense of the word's "original" interpretation. Three minutes of freewheeling, don't know where he's going to go next rhymes. Love it.

Chicago, this man has next...

Doesn't have a very exciting voice, but lyricism & flow is something which reeled me in ... 4.5

I can dig the flow, I agree that his voice doesn't blow me away but he can layer the beat good with some solid wordplay, especially since a lot of it appears to be comin off the top of his head. Almost reminds me of a less whiny charles hamilton

Like most Jay Dee tracks the beat carries the lyrics. I'm a little upset that he don't shout out the legend once in the entire song which is mandatory

I'm wit Z and Top Hat on this one. It's nice to see a "true" freestyle. He came wit a tight flow and some nice lyricism, and this was a real nice freestyle beat.
