Pugs Atomz - Rocket Love [Premiere]
Artist: Pugs Atomz
Producer: Grant Parks
Album: Kinda Like a Rapper
Label: Enohes Music
Now I was always told that having Rocket Love wasn’t exactly a good thing, if you catch my drift, but consummately smooth emcee and The Gent$ frontman Pugz Atomz begs to differ. Instead of speed, Pugz is referring to altitude when he says he’s got Rocket Love on his new single, and fittingly the track easily breaks through the stratosphere thanks to a minimally spacey beat from boardsmith Grant Parks. To clarify, despite my sexual entendres Rocket Love isn’t (entirely) about lovemaking…I think. Truth be told, it’s hard to pin down just what the central theme of Pugz’ lyrical journey is, but maybe the Booth will be able to decipher the code that I can’t. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time y’all proved to be smarter than me. Rocket Love will blast off on both Pugz and Grant Parks’ collabo album Kind of Like a Rapper, due out on June 1, as well as Pugz’ solo effort Kind of Like a Mixtape, due to hit our very own front pages soon.

You know what is funny, Nathan? I am not totally sure either, but when the end result is this enjoyable I am not sure that is even matters.
This could have been on Common's "Like Water For Chocolate" album. Damn good. |

The originality here caught my attention. Sure there's things he can improve on but from a creative aspect (one that appealed to me) this is dope! 3.5

The whole first minute got me turned away from this. The hook is disasterous, and I cant get on board with his flow.

After spending a lot of time trying to dissect this track I've learned that it's much more enjoyable if you just sit back and let it wash over you. Why ask why? It might be not have been executed to perfection, but I applaud Pugz and Grant for the creativity.

Damn, I guess all good things really do come to an end. This track was too creative for me, if that even makes sense. If Pugs was trying to change up his flow and delivery then he definitely succeeded, however it wasn't the type of delivery or change I wanted to hear.
I'm sure Pugs has got many solid tracks on his new mixtape so I'm not going hold this against him. Production got annoying after awhile and the only good thing I can really say about this track is that Pugs can spit. 2.5 |

He could've done more ryhming on this track..I think creativity and maybe just a lil laziness makes this track ok but it has potential.

The only good thing about this song was the beat. Props to Grant Parks. Could've done better with a different rapper.

Props for creativity, this is the track that an artist enjoys writing. Just write whatever and have fun with it.

It seems as though Pugs is more focused on creating sonically pleasing rhyming patterns than actually using them to say something. I'm not convinced.
But I gotta give props where props are due. I was well vibin' with the Grant Parks' beat, no matter if Pugs used it to construct a well-written, imaginative love song about a resurrected Egyptian mummy who falls for the archeologist who unearths him. :p |
