I know what you’re thinking: “Protoman – isn’t that Mega Man’s rival, programmed to exact vengeance by the dastardly Dr, Wily?” Oh, I was the only one thinking that, and I just outed myself as a nerd? Damn. Anyway, it’s somewhat appropriate that the up-and-comer took the name of a fictional villain; as evidenced by Movie Star, the latest off his and producer Sebino‘s forthcoming street album, he takes inspiration from some downright evil sh*t. Here, the Floridian emcee gives a first-person account of a real (as evidenced by the news clips at the track’s beginning and end) date rape, detailing the effects of Rohypnol slipped into the drink of an unsuspecting female clubgoer. The artist’s eye for dark lyrical detail, along with Sebino’s sinister, synth-driven production make this track a very creepy, yet compelling listen. Those who like what they’re hearing can find Movie Star and much more on the emcee-producer duo’s forthcoming 86’ed EP, scheduled to hit the ‘net on April 6.

Super heavy content, but I was more than impressed with the final result. This was deep, but delivered well (with the help of gripping audio from newscasts). I want to hear more from this emcee/producer duo!

Not exactly a track I'll be playing at the next family reunion, but I always appreciate originality, and there's no way you've heard something like this before. May be a little too much for me this late at night, but I still respect the vision. Let's get some more from the man and see what else he's got to offer.

Wasn't expecting this kinda beat. Track scores points for originality, that's for sure, but it ultimately comes off a little awkward from a musical standpoint... 2.5

strong track, haven't heard pure artistry like this in a minute. the vibe gives the essence of a first person narration...which comes as creepy and artistic as it was probably intended. keep an eye out for 86'd on April 6th!!!

I've known Proto for what seems almost too long & have had the pleasure of recording with him for years. You have no idea how much hard work went into this track, as I was witness. 86'd is going to be major yall. Trust me when i say this. I bump this track at least once a day

I seen Pro post this and signed up. Its funny to hear these cats call this weird then I seen the sites other songs and said, "that's why". Not knocking the radio but to rate this low cause he ain't talking the same shit is a crime. This shit bangs and the mix is nuts. P got HiP Hop shit. Check the stuff he dropped with Rawkus.
