Since 2005, Hypnotized Minds has released two albums from flagship group Three 6 Mafia, three from Project Pat, two each by Crunchy Black, Frayser Boy, and Chrome, and one courtesy of Lil’ Wyte. For all non-math majors, that’s twelve albums in less than four years! Not ready to let their buzz die down, the label has released a buzz single to whet our appetites for yet another album from Project Pat. Together with Gucci Mane protégé OJ da Juiceman, the Memphis native silences all who claim his crew has sold out; despite the success, fame and fortune, Pat will always Keep It Hood. Known to sample classic oldie records from the likes of Willie Hutch (see Stay Fly, Poppin’ My Collar and Int’l Players’ Anthem), producers DJ Paul & Juicy J go classic once again with Keep It Hood. There is currently no release date for this as-yet-untitled project.
The production - as has been mentioned already - steals the show here. I do not care at all for OJ da Juiceman; anyone associated with Gucci Mane has a lot of work to do in my book (Gucci, if you are reading this from jail, good luck homie!). Pat is a solid veteran rapper, good for him for benefiting from Juicy J and Paul's skills on the boards.
What!?? Who’s sounding like Soulja Boy with that flow?! But I can’t hate on this cuz the production alone deserves 5*!!! You who did it know it’s blazing! It has that south appeal but oh so classy enrichment! This would be better without the featuring, I liked the flow of the first and last verses.
