The Primeridian - Chitown's Finest
Artist: The Primeridian
Featuring: Neak , Rashid Hadee , SLOT-A
Producer: Rashid Hadee
Album: Da Crack a Dawn
Label: All Natural Inc.
There are few bigger ponds, where hip-hop is concerned, than the Windy City. Thus, when you claim to be one of Chitown’s Finest, you’re obliged to back that assertion up with some hella-fide skills. Making its world premiere in the Booth, the latest single from The Primeridian finds Race and Simeon Viltz doing just that, asserting, and justifying their elite status in the Chi. Booth-approved producer Rashid Hadee‘s contributes an understated, atmospheric synth/bass backdrop that leaves the duo maximum room to shine on the mic – and shine they do, lacing the beat with laid-back yet vivid accounts of the hustle. Joining them on the guest tip are a few Booth-acclaimed neighbors: freestyle series alum Neak and rapper-producer Slot-A rep their city to the fullest, and Hadee steps out from behind the boards to deliver the coup de grace. It’s hard to argue with a cut this packed with high-quality rhymes but, as always, the final say is yours: are Primeridian and their cohorts deserving of the record’s lofty title? Listeners leaning toward the affirmative can hear plenty more where this came form on the crew’s CosmRoks (of The Hip Hop Project)-mixed, Booth-co-sponsored Da Crack a Dawn LP, set to hit our front page soon!

The intro drags a little (I mainly prefer when a song gets right into it), but that doesn't effect the song too much. The tempo, which is a little slow for my liking, might turn the non-vibing crowd off, but "Chitown's Finest" will play well under headphones.

This has a kool vibe to it. I was expecting a hard hitting beat to fit the track name but the relax tone is alright.

First, I’d like to point out the awesome artwork. I would defiantly put my money on The Count destroying the Twilight guy in a fight. As for the track, it has a really smooth, relaxed feel to it. Each featured emcee does his thing on the mic. The lyrics and flow aren’t too complex, but sometimes simple is better. The laid back verses really match the vibe of the production. This song has definite replay ability, mostly because of the jazzy beat, but Chitowns Finest it is not.

I agree with Z, the intro was a tad bit long but nonetheless the song was dope and I was feeling the beat. Ready to hear more from this artist.

Not really feeling this one. Song drags and the production is very basic

I dig the track and everybody on it but I thought the hook was a bit underwhelming. All in all this is a quality track with slick production.

Yeah, the intro was a little bit of a turn off for me too. The good news is I stuck through it and the song immensly improved. The chill vibe is great for summer nights.
