After hearing Plies pay tribute to a woman/sexual euphemism with the borderline-unrhymable name of “Becky” on the lead single off his forthcoming Goon Affiliated LP, I was half expecting the rapper to one-up himself with a follow-up centered around, I dunno, oranges (hey, he is from Florida). Though I found that cut’s slight lyrical awkwardness hilarious, Booth readers who didn’t share my amusement will be happy to hear that second single Medicine is much, much lighter on the forced rhymes. If this mellow love jam rings a bell, there’s a good reason: a version of the record with Three 6 Mafia as the lead artist and Gucci Mane as guest feature was leaked to the ‘net back in July. Since then, the rights to Polow Da Don‘s tuneful, keyboard-driven beat have been purchased by Plies’ people at Atlantic Records, who also elected to retain Keri Hilson‘s silky-smooth chorus. With Plies’ sing-song sex talk and a catchy melody to boot, Medicine has undeniable hit potential, but will it be enough to cure Goon Affiliated‘s no-release-date-itis? For now, we can only speculate…

I surprisingly like this. Thee Gucci Three 6 version was dope, but Plies shockingly took control of this Polow Da Don track, Im def feeling it.

another poor effort from plies, hes got one of the most annoying voices in hip hop, and i just cant stand him. Keri's hook was good, but plies raps about the same thing in every frickin single he releases

MUCH better than the Six’s version (and also better than “Becky”)-expect this one to play over and over and over again on your radio stations right around Christmastime. Like it or not (me, I do like it).
ROTFL at the "One side effect of this medicine is butt gain" line. Looking forward to "Goon Affiliated"...it's going to be different, but hopefully a step up in his game! |

I usually like certain qualities of each rapper, but I have never had anything really to like about Plies, the rapper. Plies' music is a different story, it's 2 different things. His music is listen-able because of the production, but the bottom line is these same tracks could be just as good, if not better, with other artists on them. Not to be a hater, but Plies didn't do it for me on this one. His stock is falling fast.

I didn't particularly like "Becky," but I thought Plies could roll with the concept of removing the name and replacing it with other female names as a promotional gimmick. Oh well, he and his people didn't listen to me.
On the new single, Keri does her thing and this poppy-production by Polow (say that ten times fast) works. Looking at Plies track record the past three years (which seems more like 10 considering how many albums the man as released), I think this will hit.

Im pretty shore this will be a hit on urban radio, though I dunno about mainstream. The production from Polow is the highlight though Plies & Hilson are also pretty solid.
I prefer this version to the three 6 mafia & gucci mane version |

I liked this piano production and Keri sounded good. Plies wasn't great but certainly not bad. This can go in rotation.

you can hate on plies (perhaps for his raping ability) but i GIVE HIM FULL CREDIT!! for his ability to have great production, feats, and smooth hooks. not to mention the sexual connotations he comes upwith!!!

I've been following music for awhile with djbooth so I guess it's about time I contribute to the ratings here lol. Ummm plies never really grabbed my attention as a lyricist...usually he held me with the gritty (lack of a better term) productions incorporated with his music...which is the case here I DIGSSSSS this!! ..only problem is I heard this before..I don't know who used it first, but Three Six Mafia & Gucci Mane's "Medicine" definitely does better justice to it.

Just as my thoughts were on 50 Cent's "Baby By Me", producer does his job by serving up a beat that got major radio appeal written on it and then you can't go wrong these days with Keri Hilson on hook. What about Plies? Well, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if someone tells me these are the same verses he used on "Want it, Need it", "Bust it Baby" or any other of his past singles. Not that I'm listening, but they all sound the same. Go get ya money Keri/Polow !!!
The only thing positive about this is, it ain't as catchy as "Shawty" or as memorable as "Bust it Baby", which leaves me hopeful that it might not catch-on. 2.5 |

Production is very sweet, I always love Polow's works! Keri sounds ok. Plies has a annoying flow. Some songs of him are cool but I've never been into his way of rappin! The hook is kinda boring, it never changes! Could be in rotation but it will get me tired real soon

i gotta be honest, i saw the artists and song title ova the weekend and didnt even bother to listen to it. but i figured since it made it on to this site i would give it a listen. i am also surprised how good this is. i thought this was goin to be boring and generic, clearly i was wrong. Polow, Plies, and Keri sound great together.

well, the THREE SIX MAFIA, GUCCI, KERI version was classic. and this bangs, but i like the other version entirely better. in the other version, keri's voice was really like, orgasmic lmfao! this one is toned down tho.
