Plies - Look Like
Artist: Plies
Featuring: Young Jeezy , Fabolous
Producer: Dynamic [for WMGI]
Album: Goon Affiliated
Label: Big Gates/Slip-N-Slide/Atlantic
A good friend of mine recently won a ton of settlement money from a nasty car accident, so last week he splurged on so many new clothes that I jokingly asked him if he was selling drugs. Regardless of the source of his wealth, Plies’ new track Look Like could easily apply to my freshly dressed friend. Florida’s resident goon gangs up with Fabolous and the snowman himself, Jeezy, for this ode to expensive tastes. Look Like finds Plies basking in his new-found riches as he and his cohorts smoothly ride a slow-moving,hard-pounding production by Dynamic (for WMGI). Jeezy is up to his usual tricks as he cleverly rhymes about the life of expensive urges and shopping splurges, while Fabolous sounds extra comfortable on this track, serving up punchline after punchline as he lays down a highlight verse that utilizes his signature “What It Look Like” adlib to the fullest. It’s safe to say this will be the perfect soundtrack for my newly-rich buddy, but how will it fare in the Booth? Plies’ latest album Goon Affiliated will be available May 25.

This is the first Plies record that I've heard in the last few months that I actually find to be a tolerable and a slightly-enjoyable listen. The production is just average, but the combo of emcees on board here make for a compelling record. I'd rotate.

The only reason I give this song two stars is because of the production. Please Plies, just stop.

Earlier Plies tweeted that this is the type of song that will make GOON AFFILIATED be remembered in music for the next ten years.

Man the way Plies talks annoys the hell outta me!! Good thing there's a decent beat to hush it a bit. Loso and Jeezy made the track (obviously)...

Ummmmmmm..... no. I didn't really like it, a better beat would have made it a banger, but it sounds like some straight ELEVATOR music. Rapping was ok, not much more.

What did everybody expect from Plies? Jeezy and loso were disappointing. If they had better verses, Plies wouldn't have no need to be on here to begin with.

I expected much much more with a Jeezy & Fabolous feature. This just sounds like the normal Plies song we always hear. It never changes and the production is always slow and lacks energy.
Both Jeezy & Fabolous disappointed greatly...I think they are suited for more uptempo beat because it seemed like they were just dragging along with the beat. And do I need to even talk about Plies and his hook...how creative huh? Who am I kidding Plies isn't capable of even just AVERAGE lyrically content. Its not absolutely horrible but damn it is pretty bad. |

Question: Has Plies ever had a hit without an accompanying (famous) guest feature with him?

Plies is another guilty pleasure of mine. I usually hate stupid lyrics, but Plies is entertaining with whatever he spits. He seems realer than most dirty southerners. Fab's flow was super different. Not his best look, but he demonstrates his adaptability.

Sounds similar to Plenty money. I don't even know how Plies still gets fronted money to make the music he makes. Thank you Jeezy for being from the South and rapping in an audible voice. Fab was a disappointment however the song wasn't worth his best. You're forgiven Fab. I honestly can't even comment on Plies' lyrics. His voice makes my eyes squint from the pain. Ahh throw it in the trash.

i bet a lot of people just like me saw the three big names on the new songs page and thought this has banger potential already? well the majority of us i think were majorly disappointed. loso definitely felt like the beat was holding him back as was the same with jeezy. plies was average here but that isnt great in the first place so overall im very disappointed

Yo this is trash...Plies hasnt had a hot record since Put It On Ya....The production was okay, Fab is my man so he gets props for this....but Jeezy was just sleepy and Plies was just horrible....Hook is okay...i guess its just Plies voice that annoys the hell out of me!

I refuse to keep apologizing for not liking Plies. I get why he's popular, and I'm not hating, let the man get all the money and success he can, but I'm a rap fan, and he's not a good rapper. Period. If this track was Jeezy ft. Fabo I'd be digging it, but I can't rate something highly when the main artist is the weak link. Sorry Plies, but it's gotta go down.

Plies should really consider sticking to the ladies jams. This song was horrible. From the production to the disappointing verses submitted by Jeezy and Plies, I can't see any reason as to why this was better than Ok.
I enjoyed Fabolous' verse, but still think there could have been something more that he could've contributed. In order from best to worst: Fabolous, Jeezy, Plies. I agree with Nathan, I enjoy hearing good rap and Plies is not a good rapper. |

Finally a freaking Street Single!!! Been waiting to hear something like this for a long time... You niggaz stop hatin... These @*#$!'s are signed and making money for a reason! 3 @*#$!'s you wouldnt expect to all be on the same track... Phenomenal... And I peeped previous beats by DYNAMIC OF WIMGI... This nigga is the south's best kept secret. DYNAMICMUSICGROUP.COM is where I heard previous tracks he's done for Plies, Trina, Neyo, Janet, etc... Im gonna have to give this track 4 stars for the once in a life time epic collaboration!

I havent been listining to Plies much but I have to say that this track fro mhim is just what he needs to get back out there on the charts. The track is tolerable and sort of enjoyable to listen to.
The production done by Dynamic, is borderline average. Jeezy and Fabolous certainly make this track more enjoyable as each of them drop some very good lines particularly Fabolous. |

It ain't about lyrics. Jeezy's graceless hoarse voice followed after Plies' time-tested, pure, unadulterated, excruciating noise is too much for me to handle.
Another beat done wasted, which actually isn't too fresh, good or anything like that to begin with. 1.5 |

I hate the way Plies raps, his first few hits were alright only because he had help from others. Jeezy's flow was too slow on this. Only thing that kept this from a 1 was Fabo.

Plies was hot for me when he first came out with his "Goon" status because it was new and hard. I feel Plies now is getting old and I'm getting tired of hearing his voice. It's not that bad of a song with the features of Jeezy and Fabolous though. Chorus isn't great but it's tolerable. Just below rotation because I enjoy mostly anything with Fab.

I absolutely can't stand Plies style and voice. He just talks on this track. Loso and Jeezy also do no justice for this song. I can't say I expected much from Plies but Loso and Jeezy was a disappointment
